It works
If you're like me and programming this for an older relative, look at your collection of remotes. You probably have one that uses codes or even a Harmony remote that can be programmed with your phone. The original remote to your dad's TV was lost back in '98 and isn't coming back. Put the code into your fancy remote with a million buttons and try out the volume, channel, and power buttons. If it works, GREAT!Now get out this. It's VERY hard to program or deprogram. You might think that's awful. You have to push and hold a button combination to make it work. This is fine. Because the last thing you want is for dad to call you at 10PM because NCIS isn't working, and for you to have to figure out what that means.Read the manual, train the buttons. What's cool is that you can use your original or fancy remote to ALSO program buttons from the VCR etc. into this so that this remote works for the TV and the VCR. I wish it came with small writable stickers so I could label it better, but it's a great saver for time and space. If things are real dire from a remote standpoint, get a "Tile" or airtag and tape it to the back, so you can use your voice command from home to make dad's remote ding until he can find it.

Did not work for Vizio M series remote
Had high hopes for this remote for my elderly mom but I could not get it to take any of the signal from the original remote. After a dozen tries I just gave up :(.Update: I was able to use a different universal remote to program it first and use that to program this one.

Finally, a simple "learning" remote control
I have been searching for a learning remote control to operate a video camera. I shot so many cooking videos, I wore out the original remote. I worry about wearing out the replacement I found. This remote replaces that one, keeping the original safe. All I really need is Record and Stop. This remote was a little tricky to set up. I followed the directions, but the new remote wouldn't learn from the original. I found it was better to wave the original remote a little from side to side as I pressed the button, to help the beam line up properly. That worked every time. One thing I really appreciate about this remote is that is takes normal AAA batteries. Rechargeable items are okay until the internal battery no longer holds a charge. Standard replaceable batteries add life to a device. And here's a trick: To keep your remotes clean, like when using them around food or if you eat while watching TV, wrap them in clear plastic. When you need to change the batteries, also replace the plastic. Your remotes will remain as clean as the day you received them. And I even stored the user's manual inside the plastic casing with the remote. So, now my new remote is set up and ready to use. I tested it with my video camera and it works exactly as I want it to. Very happy.

We couldn’t get it to work consistently
Unfortunately this remote was a big flop for our family. Great idea but it didn’t work. After training it many times to get the signals to “take”, the buttons worked inconsistently. Sometimes it turned the TV on; sometimes it would turn the TV on, but then not turn it off. We used batteries fresh out of the pack, so I don’t think power was the problem. The volume keys didn’t seem to work at all, even though they flashed correctly during training. Not sure if we just got a bad unit or what.In the end, my dad said he was used to his beloved Roku remote, and didn’t want to learn to use a different remote. So it ended up being a moot point and we just set this new remote aside. I’m not sure how we would have programmed the “across and down” aspect of the Roku wheel anyway.Sorry, I hope other people out there have better luck than we did.

Handy for non-seniors as well!
Many universal remotes require you to enter codes for the devices you are controlling and are overly complicated – there are far more buttons than you need, and some universal controls don’t work with everything. For example, I have a TV with a Chromecast adapter and an external Denon amplifier. The Chromecast remote will turn the TV on and off, control volume and input, and do everything I need except turn the amplifier on and off. So I have this big Denon remote control for just one button. In addition to having big buttons, the Benoo remote solves this problem. I programmed a button for the amplifier power, three for the Vizio TV volume and mute, and two more for a lamp that has an IR remote to turn it brighter or dimmer. It doesn’t take the place of your factory remotes for everything, but the ability to control the nine most common functions, across multiple devices, is great. Devices have to use IR signals and it is line of sight, although the powerful emitter on this remote works fine if I point it at the ceiling and let the signal bounce. If you want to simplify your life or combine some IR controls, this is a great device. I have tried other brands and like the bigger buttons, clearer labeling, and larger size of this one. I’ll be getting another one for my office where I have a Roku TV for music streaming and a Vizio TV for a monitor and don’t need the clutter of all those buttons and remotes. Not just for seniors!

It's the little things
My mom was messing up the remote about everyday. Her TV has a slight delay. She would get frustrated and start pushing ALL the buttons! Maybe you know someone that does this?! Lol.The original remote also controlled the cable box. I was reprogramming it every day. It's not a big thing but this is a stress reliever! I would prefer that the numbers be on it. She has alot of channels. She is happy with it though so that's all that matters. Whew! This was simple to set up and I only had to do it once! It's unusual that ut is set up using the old remote rather then aiming it at the tv but it comes with easy to follow instructions. There's a power button, volume up, volume down, channel up and channel down. There is an "F" that is not mentioned anywhere. Perhaps to save a favorite?
