This chess set is exactly what I was looking for! The roll-up leather mat is high-quality and lays flat easily, and the resin pieces have a nice weight to them. It’s compact, easy to carry, and perfect for travel or outdoor games. Highly recommend!

My 4 yo grandson and his 39 yo dad love playing together w this set.

Neat little set of chess pieces and board, but after having the kit for 2 days and getting them out a couple times, already have pieces breaking. If this keeps up, I'll end having the replace all the pieces in the future.

Missing pieces so unplayable. The “board” is also flimsy and curls at the end. So would need some kind of weight to keep it flat.

This Travel Size, Roll Up Chess Set from the DN DECONATION Store on Amazon ticks all of the checkboxes for an under $30 selling price at the time of this review. Removing it from the box, it had a powerful chemical smell, which dissipated reasonably quickly. Given the fact that it rolls up, you get a larger board than those that fold in half, and yet you have a smaller travel package. Unrolled, there is a tube-like container that zips open and closed for storing the chess pieces. A divider in the storage tube would have been nice, to keep the chess pieces separated, so they don't bang against each other. The ch3ess pieces are made of resin, a type of plastic. For plastic, they are not bad. I do wish there was a bit more contrast between the light and dark colors of the board.The one-star deduction is because the board does not lay flat on one end, because the straps on that end are sewn on with a length that runs under the board. They could have sewn the straps at the end, or instead of sewing, had a small hole with a button sewn on, so you could rotate the strap to make it lay along the edge of the board, while playing.It's a nice set, and is very giftable, especially to a younger player. I recommend it.

Pieces are a bit small but its a handy portable set at a good price.

Missing a pawn I’m soooo sad

This was a perfect board to bring as a backpack traveler on a month-long trip. Small pieces but the portability and design made it so battles could happen anytime, anywhere.
