Jamie Oliver - Oliver's Twist [DVD]

I Love Jamie Oliver
I love Jamie Oliver and I used to enjoy watching "The Naked Chef" -- this is one of my favorite DVDs because his band plays in it. I would purchase the Naked Chef DVDs but I don't think they are for this region.

Going to London
My fiance is just learning to cook and moving to London ... this DVD was the perfect gift since it gives the vibes of British culture while at the same time teaching how to shop and cook on the London streets. Great buy! She loved it.

Love the theme song!
I first noticed Jamie Oliver after hearing the catchy theme song - by Leigh Haggerwood - that begins the 'Oliver's Twist' rollercoaster ride. This DVD contains the best episodes from the first series, full of Jamies enthusiasm and British charm. The recipes are mouth watering, and with all the vibrant colours and London life, it's a joy to watch from beginning to end. My particular favourite is the episode where his band Scarlet Division perform the theme song out on the street and Jamie gives it some on his drum kit. I think everyone will enjoy this DVD!

Lively and Entertaining!
I am a big fan of Jamie Oliver and I think I have watched all his cooking shows since the original Naked Chef series came out. He is lively, entertaining, and shows you how to prepare interesting and tasty dishes which you will most likely be able to recreate at home.As in the earlier series, Oliver's Twist combines a little picturesque shopping in London's specialty shops and markets to gather fresh ingredients with putting them together to make a fairly quick and easy meal in his kitchen back home for some people dropping in.I thought that the two seasons of Oliver's Twist were some of his best shows. Each ran for 26 episodes and over the course of the two series I really found him making a lot of things that I wanted to try myself after seeing him prepare them. This DVD has seven episodes from the first season. Happily, one of my favorites, Scarlet Division, is included. In his early days, Jamie was drummer for a local rock band and in this show they get together again. He makes dinner for everybody and then they do a full live performance of the theme song of the series with Jamie on the drums.Since the original season ran for 26 episodes and there are only seven shows here, 19 episodes have been left out. In another of my favorite episodes, "Singletons", he makes a nice risotto. It's a recipe I've made with variations several times since, but it isn't included here. "Painting Party", where he fixes paella, is also missing. Happily, the DVD set for the second season, Jamie Oliver in Oliver's Twist 2 , goes a little further with 15 episodes of season two included. Still, eleven shows from that season are missing. The shows that you do find here and on the Season 2 discs are great and I enjoyed watching all of them. Following Jamie's examples has encouraged me to try new things and has made me a better cook. It's too bad that so many good shows are not included in the DVD compilations of the two series. I can't imagine why so many, especially in season one, were left out. If you can find all of the episodes in reruns or somewhere on-line, I would encourage you to watch them, but until you do, this DVD is a good start.
