Are pressure fitted stair gates safe for the top of stairs?

Pressure fitted gates are generally recommended for the bottom of stairs, in hallways or doorframes. For the top of stairs, a screw-fit gate is usually the safer option as it has no base bar which can be considered a tripping hazard.

Will a pressure fitted gate damage my walls?

No. When installed correctly, pressure fitted gates should not damage walls or door frames. Adhesive-backed wall cups improve stability and protect surfaces. When removed, a small amount of adhesive residue may remain and can be gently cleaned away.

Why does my gate look bent before installation?

This is normal. Many pressure fitted gates are designed with a visible gap near the lock. Tightening the gate during installation pulls the frame into alignment.

What does the size range (e.g. 75cm–82cm) mean?

The size range refers to how far the adjustment spindles can be extended. At 75cm, the spindles are twisted fully into the gate frame. At 82cm, the spindles are extended to their maximum recommended position.

Can adults and older siblings open the gate easily?

Yes. The locking mechanism is designed to be simple for adults to operate, often with one hand, while remaining difficult for children under 24 months to understand or open. This helps provide convenient access without compromising safety.
