The Samsung Galaxy S8 is (in my opinion) still a great value smartphone even 4 years on from launch.
As this cost £155 , I wasn't expecting perfection , but after 2 weeks use , I have been pleasantly surprised. The case and screen are like new with no marks , the battery charges up to 100% with no issues , making & receiving calls and sending / receiving texts have presented no problems , and the camera takes great pics.So far , I have experienced no crashes , and the WiFi calling feature (enabled courtesy of EE) , works really well.Coming from a Samsung J5 2017 with only 16GB storage , the 64GB on this phone offers much more space , apps run faster , and are far more responsive now.I have not tested the Face recognition or fingerprint reader , so cannot vouch for their effectiveness. However , based on my experience , buying a refurbished phone at this price should not be a concern , plus I have the peace of mind of the Amazon 12 month guarantee , which allows me to return it if I have any issues.Happy with my purchase thank you.

An alright phone
I've owned S3, S4, S5, & S7 over a period of 8 years now. Got this one coz my last one screen cracked. The finger print being at the back is very unusual and stupid to me. I understand they probably couldn't copy the iPhones idea lol, but sometime it doesn't even work straight away and I just end up doing the pattern on this phone (writing the review). Especially if you have a big fingers, you can forget that feature. Ideally it's meant for the left index finger.Haven't used face recognition so I can't say anything about that & not fussed either.Since I've owned so many Samsung phones over the years, I've been use to having a home button which seems super weird to me now as well as not having the back keypad. Another thing I don't like is the Bixby button on the left next to the volume adjustments since I don't want to be speaking to that crap. Screen shot has also changed, its now the minus volume button on the side and the power button. The charging port is different than the previous models so I can't use my old wire, which I already knew. The plus side of it is, the phone does charge faster than my other phones use to do. From 0% to 45mins at least 80% charge. Definitely noticed that difference.Other than my personal pettiness which I've explained, its actually a decent phone with a good camera. I've slowly started to get use to its ddifferences & will carry on purchasing more Samsung's in the near future when the prices drop on the new models. Thanks for reading my review.

Couldn't Use
The media could not be loaded. The item arrived quickly and appeared to be in pristine condition with no sign of external wear. It was securely packaged and came with minimal accessories, which included an EU plug, unbranded cable, and headphones.Though initially impressed with the appearance of the phone, I couldn't even get through the setup process. When first turned on and halfway through setup, it flashed with an "Unauthorised attempt has been made to reset your device to factory default settings" message, and then prompted me to enter the account details of an existing owner. This is a security measure on newer Samsung devices and requires the owner to enter their details after performing a hard reset, and there is no way of bypassing it.I contacted Amazon support to ask for advice and the lady was very happy to assist- she offered a few ideas including trying to reset the device again, and stayed on the phone whilst I tried them. I was grateful for the support, though as mentioned above, there is no way to get around this security measure as it is designed to effectively make the phone unusable in the event that is stolen.I was incredibly disappointed to find this problem because it should have been spotted by someone responsible for ensuring the product works. It may just be a case of the previous owner not realizing they needed to enter their details, but it did make me wonder whether it could be a stolen phone- that in itself led me to consider returning it even if I were able to get around the issue.I can't speak for the performance of the phone besides the fact that it turns on, but this particular phone is useless unless the seller has the previous owner's account details to complete the factory reset.I fully accept that I may have just been unlucky with this item, but I decided to purchase the same phone elsewhere as I didn't want to risk another issue like this. On the plus side- the model itself is a great phone.

Almost as new
This 'renewed' product represents a significant saving on the new price and is the second one of this type that I have bought. There is little significant difference between the new product and the refurbished one with no visible signs of previous use. Despite being marketed as SIM-free you seem to be stuck with a startup screen from whichever network the phone was originally configured for - in this case AT&T - which suggests that it was originally made for the US market. The phone charger also had a 'universal' plug on it which means it cannot be used in the UK without an adaptor.Apart from that, the phone has all the features of the Galaxy S8 that can be found better described elsewhere.
