Chemical Guys, Wheel Guard Max Coat & Rim Sealant, Gloss, All Wheels, 8 oz

Wow. Blow away. I have a 2023 with glossy black wheels as the primary color, and alloy accents. The wheels looked dull when they would dry even after cleaning. I remembered I had this for almost 6 months now unopened and figured why not give it a try, I have some time and energy left. Well, let’s just say this is a staple product of mine now. I applied it like a wax and let it cure like suggested. I didn’t see anything except haze, like a wax. When I buffed it off after letting it sit, BOOM! Shiny black glossy wheels, with a slippery finish. I’ve had several vehicles with wheels that had glossy black accents and they only look good new. Not anymore! This is a MUST HAVE for anyone honestly. My only complaint is that mine must’ve separated a bit after not being used for several months, but I don’t think I would have even gone through a whole tub of this in that time, weird. Must’ve been an old batch? Still worked though and obviously didn’t change my rating. I will say that it will stain your hands green, so if you don’t want to look like a leper, wear gloves. I have tried many detailing products over the years and it’s been a long long time since I’ve been this pleased with any product. Don’t hesitate.

The good: the application process is easy, you don't have to scrub hard/pay much attention to what you're doing, etc. Cleans very well The bad. to apply either use a soft brush, or get a 99 cent 10 pack of disposable dish gloves - this stuff gets grime all over your hands. Once on, you just need to wipe off with anything you like. Paper towels work just fine - I'd avoid using anything not-disposable. The cleaning off does take time to get it all off, and if you accumulate a lot of brake-dust, you may have to go over a few areas again. So, I'm thinking - I'll just put this on BEFORE going through the full-service, drive through, carwash WITH tire & wheel cleaner. Right? rrrrrright?! I mean, jets of water... high pressure, movement. All things that *should* in theory, get all the wheel cleaner off and result in me having more time to spend on waxing the car. Except it didn't work out that way. I mean, the car wash got about 70% of it off, but I still had to don the disposable gloves and wipe each wheel down with a paper town, in it's entirety. A fun experiment, but didn't really save me any time.

Update: have had this on my my wheels for 6 months and it makes a difference for removing brake dust. At least for several months. I thought the effectiveness had worn off, however, I just cleaned my winter wheels (which did not have the guard) and it was brutal. My car generates a ton of brake dust and this stuff is great and making it easy to clean. My only gripe is that the stufd is green. It doesnt stain wheels, but stains your hands. Ran out of gloves and my hands a green. Haha Note: I reccomend putting it on when (if) you change between winter and summer wheels. Much easier to properly clean and apply wheel guard. Original review: Easy enough to put on, non offensive smell, buffs out easily. Repels water and dirty well! I hope it will last for several months.

I bought this based on the reviews. I could not be happier. I have had brake dust issues on every car I’ve ever owned. As cars get better, the rims get harder to clean. Not any more. I’ve applied this to my wheels and 6 months later I still just need to hose off the dust, and maybe occasionally wipe down the wheels and they are clean. I wish I knew about this years ago! I no longer worry about keeping my wheels clean, 6 months and approximately 12+ car washes later my wheels are still spotless. I highly recommend this for anyone who just wants to keep their wheels clean all the way to someone who wants to win a conclude de elegance competition. I will not buy or try anything else until I hear and see about something better.

***MAKE SURE TO WEAR PROTECTIVE GLOVES PRIOR TO USING or APPLYING THIS PRODUCT, SINCE IT WILL STAIN YOUR HANDS! I wore a pair of disposable gloves, before I apply this wax onto my wheels and it still stains my hands! So I double up and wore a pair of thicker gloves which makes this product harder to penetrate as well as another pair of heavy duty gloves over it. Which seem to do the trick. So make sure you don't get this product over your clothes or other areas where you don't want to get stains! I can't say that this product actually guard my wheels from brake dust, if at all, but it does seems to provide a thin barrier or coating for shine and the wax also keeps the brake dust from getting baked onto my alloy wheels. I have performance brakes on my new BMW, so brake dust is inevitable. Which is why I wanted to get something to protect my wheels against the brake dust. This product is basically just a polymer wax, which you apply to your wheels and buff off afterwards. I usually let it set for 30-60mins before I buff it off...and my wheels are shiny and clean. This product does make cleaning my wheels easier and prevent brake dust from getting baked on my wheels, so this is better than not applying anything at all. I hope Chemical Guys will come up with a new formula, which will be more effective and guard better in WHITE or even better, a clear gel instead of this slimy green paste- because green is not a good color, and it stains! So a clear gel wax would be ideal. In the meantime, I will continue to use this product on my wheels, since it's still something to protect my wheels vs not applying anything at all. Since I haven't been able to find anything else that works better, so I will continue to use this product until there's a better product/formula that actually does the job of protecting/repeal my wheels from brake dust.

Good product but container is slippery

If you're like me and read reviews before you buy, you probably have questions. My wife has a 02 BMW X5 sport. If you have a BMW you know the amount of break dust is insane. I washed the wheels really well and applied the wheel wax. I read in other reviews about how hard it is to get off and it is even harder to get off tires. I'm not sure what others did to have these problems. I intentionally whipped wax on a tire then I waxed all 4 rims. By the time I was done applying the wax I was ready to start wiping it off. I went back to the well I started on and it wiped off pretty easy, I wiped the rest of the wheels off in the same order I applied. When I was done I wiped of the one tire I intentionally put wax on (it wasn't even white, in fact it was not easy to see it. I did find it and it wiped right off) Now to the how it worked part. It works awesome! Usually after washing her silver wheels they are gray within 3 days and black in two weeks from brake dust. It has been 2 weeks and they have hardly any brake dust, they're not even to the gray stage yet. I'm going to try their car wax next.

Great service delivered very quickly. This wax is very easy to apply, needs to sit about 10mins before buffing off. Have found that wheels are easy to keep clean and only need soap and water as they retain their shine. Will probably re-apply in a few weeks if weather is bad.

Product works great! What a difference it made to the shine of the rim. It’s been on my rims about a month now and the brake dust just wipes/washes away. You can even tell the buildup just sits on top of the coating versus on your wheel. My only issue is that the green dye they use turns your whole hand green. I recommend wearing rubber gloves when handling it.
