are the mealworms alive

No - they are nice fattened up mealworms. I humbly suggest getting a pair of "disposable" tweezers if you get this! - it is "breathtaking" otherwise. Our fancy Bearded Dragon LOVES these!!

Should you refrigerate this after opening?

I know this is an old question but I use zoo med mealworms that are in a can the same as these. I refrigerate after opening and then the can will last about 3 weeks before I need a new one. My gecko has never gotten sick or anything.

Can you keep these in the freezer?

That’s exactly what I do. Please check my review and pics. https://www.amazon.com/gp/profile/amzn1.account.AE7ZSROJU4LVJ55AXYQ4CGKZPIZQ?ie=UTF8&ref_=sv_ys_4& Thanks
