Not great as a learning tool.
Doesn't have an instruction mode as I hoped and the puzzles are too easy. The chess pieces are not well made with magnets on couple of the pieces fell out.

Giftable
It’s a Christmas gift for my son. We tried it before wrapping it up. Hope it will save my energy and time because my son could choose to play with robot not me:)

Beware the images !
Not as large as pictured with the people. Wish it was bigger but still a good product. Be sure to read the instructions and keep them close while getting used to the game !

If you thought chess was hard...
First off, I do not know how to play chess. I know the the horsey makes an L, the rest I have to look up or think about for a bit. So, I was excited about the "teaching" aspect of this device. Plus my 10 year old really wants to learn chess and I thought this would be a good route. So, with a modest amount of excitement we opened this and placed all of the pieces in their locations and proceeded to read the instructions. That was the first issue. The instructions were clearly written in Chinese and then run through a translation software that turned it into English words, but did not translate the meaning very well. It's even printed in a manner that you open what would be traditionally the end of the book and read to the front. Also, one of the button names is different between what's printed on the board and what's in the little booklet. Then there is the device itself. It says "AI" on the box, I know that's a pretty open concept and a very popular buzzword, but this is in no way "AI" or any sort of machine learning. This reminds me almost exactly of a handheld electronic chess game my cousin had in the 80's that he got from Radio Shack. Only difference is this has a chess board attached as a way to push the buttons. As far as "teaching" is concerned, it just yells at you if it doesn't think you've chosen the best move, there really isn't an explanation. Overall, my son and I were thoroughly disappointed.

It’s hard to adjust the volume
Sometimes the game freezes and I need to delete it and start playing again with a new game
