Q: Hi im a rookie when it comes to sharpening stones & that! So can you advise me on what side do i sharpen on first, & what does stabilising mean?

Belgian Chunks are natural occurring sharpening stones, which get a slate plate added, so the stone will stay in place whilst using. That means the top (light/white/yellow) part is used for sharpening and the bottom is simply there for stabilization. The Belgian Chunks are delivered with an included certificate of authenticity and instructions for use. We do recommend watching videos on how to use the stone beforehand. With Belgian Chunks you create an abrasive grinding compound, or slurry, by adding water on the surface and making circular movements on the whetstone. Then you can sharpen blades by pressing gently at the correct angle and alternately moving both sides of the blade across the surface of the whetstone. The stones have a grid of 6000-8000 and are used for the final finish of resharpened blades.
