Works great for a single wattage bulb. Anyone know of an extender like this but for 3-way bulbs?

No, and this one cannot work. 3-way bulbs require 3 contacts: the screw-in contact, the center contact -- and the ring around the center contact. This extender does not provide for the ring around the center contact.

Will it work with smart light bulbs?

They should, all they do is extend the socket.
