Roto Single-Chamber Tumbling Composter

The FCMP Outdoor tumbling composter is exactly what I needed for my garden. The single-chamber design is simple but effective, and the 37-gallon capacity is perfect for a household’s kitchen scraps and yard waste. The elevated, rotating design makes turning the compost easy — no heavy lifting or messy shoveling. The plastic is durable and weather-resistant, and assembly was quick with clear instructions. After just a few weeks, I could already see the compost breaking down nicely. It keeps pests out, looks tidy in the yard, and makes composting much more convenient. Highly recommend for both beginners and experienced gardeners.

This tumbler is just what I was looking for to suit my backyard garden needs. I appreciate the solid construction of the single chamber barrel, the sliding door glides open easily without catching - nor does it slide open on its own when spinning the barrel. The assembly was a breeze, I just lined the stand legs up, tightened them together and the top bar and tumbler fit like a glove. Took under 10 mins, but I did have a second set of hands ready to help. I specifically did not want a two chamber system. The wide opening is easy to get the largest of zucchini stalks and leaves into without breaking down, and when placed in the sun, it cooks! Even when 3/4 full my toddlers can spin the barrel without difficulty. It takes about 3 weeks with the right balanced materials to begin forming usable compost. I can either scoop out martial with a garden trowel to use just a little, or line the door up with a wheelbarrow and easily let gravity do the work for me if I need a lot. Accessibility is versatile. Of all the other tumblers I have tired, this is by far the best one I have used. It is sturdy, I haven't had issues with it leaking, I am happy with the venting that came with the unit, I didn't needed to drill additional holes into it for it to ventilate properly. Out of the box it was ready to use.

I was very surprised to see the actual tumbler itself has zero assembly, no moving parts or panels as it's one entire molded plastic. This is great! The stand is made from galvanized steel and seems very rigid to me. Glad I bought this over other cheaper products available at Amazon. Price is bit high and I'm deducting one star for the plastic bites I had to manually remove. Overall it's a good unit, there are better ones out there but for my budget this fit the bill. There r vent and drainage holes all throughout and it spins freely while full -i loaded this thing to the brim using their suggested 2 :1 browns to greens. I have tons of grass clippings and leaves so I won't be using any veggie scraps as a experiment to see how my compost will be. In my 2nd batch I'll definitely try veggies n fruit scraps as my greens and cardboard n leaves as my browns.

This composter required only the support to be put together. Very easy to do. Just put the rod inside the tumbler before attachment. Unlike some other composters, the body of this one is one piece, so it doesn’t have to be put together and it’s unlikely that it will split. Overall I’m very happy with the purchase. Hoping it will hold up as others have said it does. That’s why I think the galvanized legs are important. The only potential negative is that it does not have a locking peg to keep it from spinning while loading or unloading. Typically the weight inside keeps it essentially in place, but that would be an improvement. I’ve actually added a braking attachment. I also wonder about the door. Like many others, it slides in place. This one has the advantage of being thick and substantial. Others in this price range have swing doors, but many complain that the latches open up while spinning. So the sturdy slider was my choice. I’m hoping there’s no issue with it freezing shut. This is a very good quality tumbler!

Easy to assemble. All pieces labelled well. Even though the frame is rust resistant, I placed the frame on a composite timber deck boards I had extra from a deck installation. Secured it with four 3/4" conduit clamps screwed into the deck boards. A previous "rust resistant" frame from another bin rusted after 8 years of ground contact. The sliding lid moves freely. There was a bit of a gap on the spinning axle between the bin and the frame, which I solved by installing a 1/2" long piece of 1" PCV pipe on either side of the axle outside of the tumbler. This prevented the tumbler from hitting the frame as it rotated and keeps the tumbler centered in the frame. In 60 minutes I had the tumbler out of the box, assembled and put in place. So sure, it's not perfect right out of the box (which would drop the rating to 4.5 stars) but if you want it to last more than 10 years you have to do it right. I have no doubts this will last a very long time.

There are definitely cheaper options out there. I wasn't sure about paying almost twice what some cost. But now that I have it, it was the right choice. I love that it's not a split barrel like most others, as I have chickens and have a LOT to compost. The dual chamber ones would be too small. I love that it came with the barrell already assembled. The metal parts for the stand were stored inside, and were easy to put together. All together it was a great purchase of a quality product. It should last for many years!!!

I've owned several compost tumblers in the last two decades and this by far is the best I have used. I use it to start my composting since it's easier to mix the ingredients; then transfer to the stationary compost bin so it can decompose and bake more before using. Pros: First off, it comes in ONE PIECE. Most compost tumblers comes in parts that you have to assemble, which is fine except over time (and especially when it gets full) the compost bin usually starts to sag and come apart at the seams. You don't have that issue with this tumber. Secondly, because it comes in one solid piece, the assembly is quick and easy (total of 8 screws/lug nuts). This took me no more than 10mins to assemble while having my cup of noon time coffee. Cons: It only comes in one size. I wish they came in bigger options. But it does the job.

I was looking to replace a pair of 50 gal compost bins that I left behind when I moved. This was the closest thing I found to what I had before. These were easy to assemble (pay attention to the part of the instructions where it says "Do NOT assemble the legs like this" [in images]). Empty, they're fairly lightweight, so easy to move around. When I went to use them, there were a couple things I found to be significantly inferior to the units I had before: 1 - The opening is small. I used the catch bag on my push mower to catch some grass clippings to put into the bin. The opening is MUCH shorter than the height of the grass-catcher, which meant that I spilled a lot of the clippings on the outside of/around the bin. I can see this becoming even more problematic when the compost is ready to be used, and I want to use a shovel to get it out. 2 - There is no lock for the tumbling feature. My old bins had pins to keep them from rotating. Since I was starting with an empty bin, it kept wanting to rotate as I was trying to empty my grass clippings into it (which just made the size of the opening that much more frustrating).
