I am editing a previous review that I left after reading the book more. I am lowering my rating because I have found errors in the text. For example, "If the wind direction on a weather chart is given as 120 degrees magnetic, and the magnetic variation at your location is +10 degrees, you would subtract 10 degrees from 120 to obtain the true wind direction of 110 degrees." Actually, you would add the magnetic variation to the magnetic wind direction to convert it to true wind direction. Maybe Jason was thinking of converting True direction to Magnetic instead of Magnetic to True. Another example, "If one of the two magnetos fails during flight, the engine will continue to operate on the remaining magneto, but with a reduced number of firing cylinders". Actually, all cylinders continue to fire because each cylinder has two spark plugs from each of the magnetos. The reduction in power is because the fuel does not ignite as rapidly with one spark instead of two. I have a copy of the latest edition by Jason Blair and the previous edition by Micheal D Hayes. I will say that although Jason did a okay job, Michael’s version is easier to digest and uses clearer language. Nevertheless this book is a decent resource.
