Pachmayr American Legend Grips for full size 1911s

As usual, Amazon shipped on time. I'd seen these grips before and hesitated. Then one night just bored, decided to shop for 1911 accessories which I do often. I bought them and wow, was I pleased. Easy to install, fit perfectly, no stretching needed as posted in other post, went on the pistol with no problems. The look is just so "Custom" which seems to make the weapon look more expensive. I've yet to fire it, but feels outstanding in my hand, so I think they'll be fine, we'll see. Bottom line, great Look, great fit. Check out my photo stream to see my install.

I installed the grips on a 2019 built Rock Island 1911-A1 pistol. Installation was smooth and easy, and the existing frame mounting points fit. The grips fit well in my hand and provided an appealing finish.Unfortunately, once installed the slide seizes and becomes inoperable. I reinstalled them a few times and cannot see any obvious reason for the slide locking - no interference with the safety, etc - yet it remains so. I have two other sets of aftermarket grips for the pistol that do not have this problem. Removing the Pachyderm grips immediately frees the slide and returns the pistol to normal operation.

I was skeptical at first. I honestly have never been one who cared if his firearms looked cool or ever bought after market accessories other than things that helped the performance of the guns but when i saw this grip pop up, something told me to give it a shot. The only thing I didn’t like about my 1911 was the grip itself. So not only do i love the look it gave to my new Springfield 1911 A1 mil spec, this grip is extremely comfortable and allows you to get an excellent grip and it went on with no issues. Fit like a glove upon installing it. I recommend this to anyone looking to get a something to give you a better grip. Especially if you have the .45 ACP. I love it.

First, let me say that I owned a pair of American Legend grips about 15 years ago. That pair was outstanding. The finger grooves were solid rubber, and it was definitely a tight fit, but not painfully so. That old pair went along with a Kimber stainless I sold. I should have kept those grips because they were of much higher quality.These new grips are ill-fitting and a little sloppy. The rubber is only mechanically fastened to the wood via the Pachmayr medallion and the bottom grip screw, and it tends to twist when installing the grip screw. The rubber itself is loose enough around the front strap that there is an actual void between the grip and the front strap... a perfect place for moisture to collect.Pachmayr has taken a step backward with these grips, and, for the first time ever, I'm thinking of simply returning an item... as much as I like how they look. (It's the only reason I give it 2 stars.) I do still have an old pair of black Pachmayr grips with finger grooves. I guess I'll stick with those. How sad.

I was looking for a change-out for my recent 1911 build and noticed these, so thought Nice-major brand name?I receive the grips, to my complete disgust when installing, found them Loose, Thin, Sloppy fitting and Very Generic Plastic feel. I would not use this grip on any firearm for any reason. I have many other Pachmayr grips and products that are very nice-Not These! Competitor brand back on, works perfect as always. Apearence is as is, acceptable.

I love these grips 90%. the panels look nice at it fits my Taurus matchgrade perfectly. I have two criticisms, and they're both extremely minimal, that being said I didn't read it in any other reviews and it would likely have changed the grips I ended up going with.Criticism 1: the "control of rubber" they talk about in the product description is EXACTLY that, rubber. For those of us used to dealing with Hogue style grips, we expect either a high grade silicon, or a softened polymer when we're looking for rubbery, these are not that they are rubber.Criticism 2: the rubber knurled portion of the grip is actually two separate rubber pieces welded together, not sure why they did that, other than it cuts down on your mold size. The issue with that they didn't grind down the weld seam on the grip, which makes it look even cheaper.Again, the grips feel great and give an already wonderful 1911 even more control, I would have just liked to see better finish or better material on the contour.

Im giving this a 4/5 because of the rubber that is used on the grip. It is a good grip type rubber with a lot of friction to keep a good grip, but it does attract a lot of debris. It's in my house and just by merely having it on my table I can already see white hairs from my dalmation. It feels good and looks good, but I predict in maybe 6 months time the debris mixed with ware and tear will force me to buy another set. The factory grips are in the packaging so you can see everything. So in all, of you're a hard core type of person who use's their 1911 every single day I'd pass on these, but if it gets used every now and then, I'd say go for it.

I really like the product, but...The wood was not the correct dimension. Both sides, the wood was too tall, interfering with the function of the ambidextrous safety. I had to spend about 30 minutes sanding down each side, to get them just right. All in i all, I love the product, but completely disappointed that this manufacturer is shipping product, not respective to the dimensions of the firearm it’s intended for. The manufacturers should be more aware of their production tolerances, and should exercise better Quality assurance.

Excellent product. This grip made my 1911 feel like a completely different firearm. Better feel and recoil handling without a doubt.

Nice grips, looks great, easy install, fit is slightly loose close to trigger would be best on a traditional 1911; is my opinion. I would recommend these grips.

Purchased for my CCI Phantom paintball marker. I find this grip attractive and comfortable. It fits my hands better than the Hogue wrap-around grips that the Phantom comes with from the factory. There is a small gap between the top finger nub and the trigger guard, but the finger nubs are of a soft rubber and doesn't bother me.
