Get the name brand nerf
I bought a set of knockoff bows and ended up buying two of these for a birthday party. Just get these, they are stronger with better quality control. The only word of warning is that they are strong enough that if you get hit at short range it will turn red so use appropriate parental judgement about age and purpose.

Could be great! Except…
I’m always happy when new Nerf tech comes out; they make a lot of great stuff. The concept of the rip rocket arrow shooter is great, but they need some serious QC checks. There’s a ton of rough edges around the seams of the plastic. And the spring in the trigger is not enough to hold it when you go to cock it. By that I mean, the trigger catches on the rough plastic and you have to physically push and hold the trigger forward while cocking it; even then it’s not guaranteed to lock. There’s space to mount 6 arrows, but it only comes with 4.If they fixed the cocking mechanism and added a couple more arrows, this could be a really fun Nerf toy

I got this for my 8 year old son and that is most certainly the age group that I would recommend this for 7+ as it is semi difficult to pull back.It is a great outdoor activity. The arrow shoots pretty far. My son absolutely loves this and that was the point of getting it so- I would do it again for that reason only.It was difficult to assemble and has a few flaws. When pulling back the string to shoot the arrow will fall out you have to hold it completely upright in order for that not to happen which is unrealistic for kids. I would honestly be shocked if it lasts through the end of the year with the quality it’s at now. It doesn’t seem that well made for a $50 toy(that’s the price on it right now), I would say $30 at best until they make it more durable. I also don’t know why they have space to hold 6 arrows yet only include 4.

Wow, this thing really shoots!
The media could not be loaded. I was really impressed with how well this shoot. It flew way across the yard, in a very straight line. Told my son jokingly to aim at the squirrel far side of the yard expecting this to MAY fly half of that distance (I have a very large yard). Instead it landed within 2 ft of the squirrel. Surprised all of us. (Not to worry, now that we know it fires and flies so well, we wont be doing that again.) Next I had him fire at a tree beside our deck, nearly the same distance as the original flight. Hit the tree first time. In fact he hit it nearly every time. I even fired it a few times. It really is very easy, and takes nearly no effort to quickly start hitting your targets. Overall, I am really pleased with this. and so is my son. Only advice my son wanted me to add, is that the front firing tube needs to be screwed on, not just pushed on. He didn't realize that when he first put it together.
