Works Great for DMR Hotspot
I use this with my DMR JumboSpot, and once I downloaded the proper Nextion files, it worked great, Finding the .HMI files to work with it, however, took several days. Use the Facebook group to find the proper one for this model.Warning: If you want to plug it into USB port, you're going to need a TTL to USB adapter plug, too. Please note that this is a 5V device, and the default jumper on most adapters is 3V, which won't make the display power up. If you see gibberish instead of a welcome screen, check your input voltage!

Things they don't tell you
Things they don't tell you:#1, this comes pre-loaded with a demo screen that says it is a Nextion Basic when you power it up. That's wrong. It is actually an Enhanced display. The part number is correct.#2, you need an ancient SD card to load this thing. It won't work with modern Class 10 SD cards. I tried every card I had. I got it to work with a 4 GB class 6 card which are getting to be impossible to find. If it only works with some cards, it really should come with a compatible one. Or better yet, it should work correctly with modern cards. If you can't find an old SD card, you can still program it through the serial port, but be prepared to wait 10-15 minutes for the file to transfer.#3, red is +5V, blue is transmit data, yellow is receive data, black is ground. The screen itself is nice, and seems to work fine once you get it programmed.

Great HMI for the price and perfect for beginners into HMI designs.
I liked that it is able to be used as a standalone HMI display if you purchase the enhanced version, so no need to control it with a microcontroller or other device. The language to program it is cumbersome but once you get used to it is workable yet is still tedious. What I disliked about it is the lack of examples. Being new to HMI's some examples would have helped the design process It was a lot of trial and error until it functioned the way I intended it to.I 3D printed an enclosure due to the lack of enclosure selections available for this display. I adhered some magnets to the inside of it so it will stick well to the steel frame it will be attached to.For this price compared to the traditional HMI for PLC's, you cannot beat the price point. They also updated their software so that small changes now takes seconds compared to uploadng the entire code which takes minutes depending on the code size. Overall happy with it and will likely use more in the future. My intended use for this is to control testing/programming a PIC controlled device for a few of the products my company manufactures. Makes for a seamless anb simplistic interface for whatever project you're going to use it on. Highly recommend

Great little touch panel
I love this thing! I used it as the heart of a kamado grill temperature controller I made. The native buttons and graphics I didn’t find very useful, they worked fine, but were not graphically very interesting. Once I understood how the mfg provides “transparent” buttons and that you layer various images...I realized I could design the look and feel however I wanted. I did have an issue getting the unit to send data out on an event that I never got resolved. The provided simulator showed that it worked properly, but my arduino never properly received the message. It’s likely this is all due to operator error. I got around it by having the arduino poll the individual fields, and that worked just fine. Online tutorials and documentation was adequate and enough to answer all my questions if I got stuck. All in all, easy to program, extremely visually customizable, and good value for cost. These units are definitely my go-to for future project gui’s.

Versatile, easy to use and inexpensive touchscreen
I used this as the control interface for my graduate thesis. It was easy to program, although the Nextion IDE seems like it would be challenging for beginners. The unit is quite compact, and the onboard microcontroller is surprisingly capable. Keep in mind that the storage is *tiny* and the IDE converts imported graphics to bmp, so it fills up fast. The only negative is the viewing angle, which is a lot narrower than I expected for a contemporary product; my application was unusual though, and I don't know if this is something that would be apparent in regular use. This is a great deal for the money, and if you're an interactive artist or a diy tech hobbyist I definitely grabbing a couple in different sizes for developing interfaces and custom displays.

Easy Touchscreen Interfacing
I have purchased 2 of these and will purchase more in the future. It is one of the easiest ways to create a larger format touchscreen interface for controlling Arduino projects as it runs its own software from Nextion and communicates via serial. The two major flaws are:(1) 480x800 resolution (I wish it was higher resolution).(2) Low NIT’s (this number equates to the brightness of a display).A perspective on NIT numbers, for the screen to be visible in sunlight it would require 1,000 or more. This display is only 200... so even at full brightness, it’s for indoor use at best.I’m not taking away stars for these flaws as the display is described with both figures and aside from its drawbacks, is a great way to interface with projects with WAY less code.I’d pay more though for a brighter (higher NIT) screen, if they ever offered one.

Great product, not so great with arduino IDE
The screen its self is a nice clear screen. The resolution is not very high so dont expected crystal clear images. However, it is good enough for professional looking projects. The nextion software is great. Takes a little bit to learn it but once you get it, it is easy to use. I took off one star becasue of the Arduino IDE library(s). They are not all that easy to use. They have a write up on their website how what does what but not really how to use it. Plus there are not very people using these displays on YouTube. The company should find some people on YouTube and make a deal with them to build some projects with and go over the code in detail. Other than that it is a great product.

Only supports a single touch, small viewing angle
This only supports a single touch. It does not support pressing two points or buttons at once. The viewing angle is small: if you look even a little bit from the sides then the LCD colors change and it is unreadable.

Not sure if this is a clone.
Used a new 1220 Energizer lithium battery. Still shows Basic model, not K series enhanced. Advertised as an enhanced model and says to insert battery in order for it to read correctly. Will the seller make it right?

Way too high price for a normal display.
Product is good, but price is way too high. The pic shown is enhanced display but what delivered is normal display.
