A aid memoire
If you have ever sat with, dined with, married a worker from the exploration business. I humbly suggest you get a copy of this and make notes of what you can expect to experience. I remember in a galaxy far far away sitting in the wet room listening to my elders pass on tales of movie night in Papua New Guinea which turned in to a John Wayne style brawl. As I kept those stories in my head without realising I became an elder myself, passing on stories of street wild chases though the Caucasus, shootouts and spear throwing natives, not even realising what had occurred until my own children said I should write a book. It’s worth a read and possibly a dislocated jaw from incredulity or a broken rib from laughing.

Funny but annoying
Very funny to read once, don't go back to it as you then realise what an absolute smarmy git Carter actually is. He really is up his own backside, believes that he is Gods gift top women - only the most beautiful ones though of course.

Funny read
Although I could have lived without the bad language, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The monkey on the fan story is hysterical, so much so, I read it out to my husband. Great insight into the rigs and the different characters the author meets.

A must read
Ok, I’m in the industry and I’ve been to many of the same places so this has a special resonance for me. It’s certainly not literature but an amusing take on the madness that is life in the global oil and gas community.

loved it.. very funny
I thought this book was just going to be about working on oil rigs in the sea... I didnt realise that the author had travelled literally all over the world and worked on many land based rigs as well. This book is down right hilarious and and part with the poor monkey swinging round on the ceiling fan just has to be read twice. It was a bit gory in one part.. its a wonder one of the film makers havent used that particular bit in a horror film,, I did recoil in horror when one of the authors fellow riggers had an awful accident. Quite a short book for saying but on the whole a good read.

made laugh out loud at some of his antics
Having been drawn to his other book first - is that bike diesel ,through an aging love of motor cycles, and looking for an easy christmas read. i finished the first book the same day and was keen to here more of what made Pauli the chap he is today so i grabbed this off of the web site and iwas not disappointed. He has a laughable i dont know how this happened innocence,to his story telling that always sees him as the chap in the wrong place at the wrong time when all hell breaks loose. But his visual and easy writing manner made this for me exactly what it says on the tin. It is in reality a tiny peek into the antics dangers fun and addiction the oil business is, but told through the honest no holds barred view of achap whos been there and done it. i really enjoyed it.

Brilliant book
The funniest and most interesting book I’ve read in a long time, there have been times where I have to stop reading, as I was laughing so hard!
