Very Nice Product and Excellent Price
Very nice product. I would have given it a 5 star except the tubs have a little more play in them than I'd like. But then I do not know how much is needed in order to get the pieces to slide together. I only hooked it up to the truck to see how it went together and did not need the instructions because it very easy to figure out. Judging by how heavy it is I am confident it is plenty strong enough to get my lumber home from the lumber yard. I have a 6.6 foot short bed and when fully extended 12 foot planks will stick out (I'm guessing) about 6-8 inches past the end so 12 footers will be nice and secure to haul. But the reason I got it is because I need to haul 16 foot boards also and the rack will handle them nicely. I showed it to my neighbor who is a carpenter when I had it hooked to the truck and he ordered one a few hours later because he also has a short bed. truck. - Don't forget to order a hitch pin if you do not have one because one does not come with it.I used the extender for the first time so I added some images to the review. My bed is 6' 4". When the tailgate is down I have 8' 3.5" These images show 8, 5/4 x 12' decking boards and 8, 5/4 x 8' decking boards. The boards are stacked 4 side by side. This thing worked great! It's nice to be able to secure long boards using a short bed truck now. Although the tubes have a little play in them the unit was solid with the lumber sitting on it so I'm changing my rating from 4 to 5 stars.

Heavy Duty and Versatile
I bought this extender to haul my 14' kayaks in my bed without worrying about them bouncing around too much. I was blown away by the quality of this product. It had tape reflectors on both the back and side rails for maximum visibility. Plus it came with a high quality red flag with solid steel mounting rod that keeps the flag from folding up and easily attaches to either one of the adjustment pins or I clip it to the carrying handle of my kayak using a carabiner. Their attention to detail is what really impressed me. The rack itself is very durable thick steel and it is adjustable in every way possible. The rack slides in and out along the main tube allowing you to adjust the distance from the truck. It also extends up and down to adjust height. You can even adjust the vertical rails in and out to adjust the width. Furthermore you can flip the top piece upside down so the vertical rails point down giving you a flat surface if your cargo is wider than the rails allow. And as if that wasn't enough, you can flip the whole thing around and use it on an SUV and it will extend vertically all the way up to the roof. Like I said, versatile...I've used this rack on several kayaking adventures and it never disappoints. The kayaks fit snugly in the cradle because I was able to fine tune each piece of the rack for the perfect fit. All the pieces are locked in using quality pins with locking clips. The whole thing is solid and I'm able to secure the kayaks to the rack so there is no movement at all during transit. The one thing is that it doesn't come with the hitch pin. This was clearly stated on the product description so it wasn't a big deal. Plus I would recommend using a locking pin anyway. I could definitely see this thing disappearing off the back of my truck while I was out kayaking.

Just what I needed to haul long lumber and 4x8 sheets of plywood in a 4Runner
I LOVE THIS RACK SYSTEM. It bolts into my 4Runner's hitch carrier easily and allows me to carry very long pieces of lumber and 4x8 sheets of plywood and sheetrock. Was on the verge of renting a truck or trailer and this is the bargain solution, saving time and hassle. It's VERY strong, sturdy, and came with clever and secure adjustment bolts with cotter-pin-like locks. It clanks a little, but genuinely just a little, and doesn't bother me for the few trips I've made with it. Huge recommendation... people are astonished that there is such a thing, and it's expandable-enough to be truly useful for large sheets, and not all the others can do that.

Very well made, but not perfect.
I was very happily impressed by the quality of this bed extender and by how solid and heavy it is. For the price, I don't think you can find better. I did alot of research before settling on the Lund and I have no regrets. I installed it on a 2018 Toyota Tacoma to carry two 14' kayaks. The T-bar is set at its lowest position to be level with the bed, and the diagonal support bar is at its rearmost setting to accommodate the 14' kayaks. At these settings, it complies with Lund's warning that the load (the kayaks) should not extend more than 6' beyond the rear edge of the tailgate when down. The kayaks extend approximately 3' beyond the T-bar. While the extender is well built (sturdy and hefty with good strong welds), the components fit together pretty loosely, including at the hitch receiver. I'm not too worried about this, and I guess it's the price you pay for adjustability. Nothing will fall off and with the kayaks tied down, they'll be plenty stable. I plan to put rubber tubing over the uprights (1-1/2" inside dia should make for a tight fit) to protect the kayaks, and cover the T-bar (1-3/4" square) with either carpeting or rubber padding of some kind, also to protect the T-bar. I'll update after using it, but the build quality, ease of installation, instructions, etc., are all top notch!! Nice job Lund! One word of warning or caution for you Tacoma owners or for anyone with a truck that has a tailgate-mounted camera. Just realize that the camera is useless with the tailgate in the down position, so you'll always have to remember you have an additional "load" behind you when backing up or turning!

Solid and Sturdy - Easy to assemble
Sturdy and heavy - good product and was easy to assemble. Kayaks locked in really well via a bungee to the truck bed tie downs.

NIce rack!
Works really well. I needed some way to transport a 14.5' kayak in the bed of my short box Titan. The rack is solidly built and it fits securely in the truck's trailer hitch receptacle. Very adjustable. I would recommend getting a couple of pool noodles to cover the arms of the rack so the bare steel does not scratch your boat.

Heavy duty bed extender for boats and boards- works well. Versatile in that it can be used in a vertical position to span from roof to rack or in horizontal position as a bed extender. Heavy duty construction

Good purchase.
I purchased this last year to add to the back of my truck for two Kayaks, a 12 foot and a 14 foot. Only used it a few times but it works just as advertised. My one suggestion would b for the manufacturer to add in some sort of padding you can put on and off the posts.

Buy it you will be happy.
Easy to use easy to set up. Did research very happy with the details put into this unit. Carries lots of weight and many holes for adjusting. Great purchase wish I had done it before damaged my tailgate.
