Better pass on this outdated system
I bought this system while it was on sale and refurbished for half the original price. Just to be clear refurbishing should bring the product up to its original operating condition at the least, if not visually as well. I connected it via HDMI and Optical and I was met with unimpressive sound characteristics, flat bass and muddy center sound. Heck a 200$ sound bar I attached after I returned this produced clearer sound but it was newer. I decided to update the firmware and reset settings to give the old DSP (Digital Sound Processor) a fighting chance but alas even the newest firmware could not bring it to life. I ended up going with a Newer system from 2018 with a 2019 Firmware update!!! meaning it actually got better than it started out with. So my lesson to you is to avoid older DSP (Digital Sound Processor) chips in older sound systems, there is a reason they are on sale or reduced in price.
