ABS = Anti-lock Brake System
ABS is anti-lock brake system. If this light is on your car will usually not pass inspection. These lights come on often in cars, a lot of time because of cold weather/ice. Sometimes the problem is the brakes sometime it's the light itself. This is a good little code reader but it's for newer cars. Amazon's price is good but you can get lucky if you wait and search for deals and coupons, however I don't have time for another career. Buy it!

Don't work for a Chevy?? Come on.
Bought it to troubleshoot an ABS problem on a 1997 Chevy Lumina. It will not work on this car in ABS mode. This is a bread and butter car in America,. These cars are everywhere. Now if H F will return my money, I guess I wont be mad. BUT, when I purchased this unit they told me if I bought it back there would be a 15% restock charge. We shall see.

A Capable Scanner
I bought this at a local Harbor Freight Tools for about $90 after a sale and a 20% off coupon and I am very satisfied. As of the time of this review, I have had the scanner for about 2 years and I haven't had any problems with it. I am always the go to mechanic for friends and family, so this tool has come in handy. I have used it to read check engine codes and transmission codes on GM, Ford, Dodge, Honda and Toyotas ranging in years from 1996 to 2013. I have yet to run into problems looking for a engine or transmission code.On the other hand, I have used it on many vehicles as well for the ABS feature. The only vehicles that give me problems with ABS codes are Dodge cars. That typically results in a "Link Error" so I send those people to someone else I know who has an expensive Snap On scanner.The display is very easy to read in all types of light - dim to bright sunlight.For what I paid for this scanner, I have no reason to complain. I do dock one star for the ABS issues with Dodge because it is an inconvenience for me. Other than that, I am happy and would definitely buy one again. For the average DIY'er, this is a good product. I have used the Snap Ons and they are nice for tracking down a issue and getting instant troubleshooting ideas, but for what I need to do I can't justify spending thousands for a Snap On.
