LED Pen, The Pilot's Pen, Aviator Model - LED Powered Ink Penlight with Night Vision Lenses

The pilot pen aviator model is made of good quality aluminum material. The light is very good for the job I need it for. I also appreciate the good information I received from their customer service department. I highly recommend this pen.

Works great except that the circuit that turns the light on does not work half the time!

I bought two pens, and neither of them could ever be used. Upon opening the packaging, I immediately had to replace batteries in both pens BEFORE USING for the first time. After replacing batteries, I clicked to turn the light on, and the pen light flickered on and off. The lights lit randomly. When I opened one of the pens to see if there was a problem with the battery connection, the pen's top fell off. These are VERY cheaply made. The second pen was also equally useless. It never stayed lit for even 10 seconds. I tossed both in the trash and kept the container they came in for holding phone charger cords in the car. I do not normally give bad reviews, but I feel the need to warn people of my experience.

I bought this for my fighter pilot husband because he keeps waking up in the night and thinking of things he wants to write. As long as he uses one of the colored filters, it doesn't wake me up. The white one is VERY bright.

POSITIVE: there are 2 LEDs and it is brighter than expected, thanks to the 3 batteries instead of 2 batteries (other brands). The design of the Battery Pack Box is very good.NEGATIVE: my 3 originals batteries were dead when I received the item, have to use the spare batteries right away. Since there is no treads where you put your fingers, the pen may be kind of slippery for some. Finally, even when retracting the ink, the ink Cartridge is 1 mm too long so it is possible to write using the pen vertically ! Have to remove the plastic Ink Cartridge from the metal Ink Cartridge Sleeve and cut the extra 1 mm with an ordinary scissors. It is somewhat frustrating but the process is simple. I should say that the pen is larger than a regular pen, about 1/2 inch, to let enough space for the LEDs. Since it is a large pen to hold, it is comfortable enough for occasional usage (not for a student in a classroom).

This gives off just enough light for night writing. I like the green tip best.It is easy to change tips. The writing is smooth. Exactly what I was looking for.

Had to return the first one and re-order this pen because the LED was very intermittent. The second one arrived and had a similar problem. The design is well thought out but the materials are so cheaply made that the contacts inside do not work well. I took it apart and reassembled it and it worked a lot better but still has issues. When the light is on it has a tendency to flicker if you jar it slightly or place it down on the table. I would assume if I sent this one back I'd get another one with the same problem.
