KOOLOREZ: Edith - Our Queens Black Doll Set

Got this for the office Christmas toy drive. It was so beautiful that I wanted to hold onto it for myself. Any child would love it.

She very beautiful, Hair is perfect, worth the money, I think any girl would like as a gift.

My granddaughter love this doll for her birthday.

I've loved dolls since I played with my mother's dolls in her plastic green case. As an adult, I more or less collect them to join some of my old chilldhood dolls in panoramas or displays - this is why I chose Edith. Edith has a gorgeous dress, which is why I immediately snapped her up. She also comes from a brand I am not as familiar with KOOLOREZ. I've had Fresh Dolls, Mattel (Duh), Bratz, Monster High, Barbies, even once upon a time, Novi Stars, so I wanted to see how this brand stood up. PLEASE NOTE: This ENTIRE review is from an adult collector's POV, so some of these "issues" are not relevant if you are getting this for a child. I will note when I think the issue is applicable for those buying this for a child. There were a few things about the doll herself I noticed that were a bit of an issue from an adult collector. 1) The plastic bag she comes with is ridiculously cheap and does not match her outfit. Given Edith is a poet, painter and environmental scientist, it would have been amazing to have small items to match these interests - or at the least a purse to match her gorgeous outfit. 2) Edith's head is slightly bigger than the rest of her body. Most dolls of this size have slightly smaller heads. 3) Her hands are not the same color as the rest of her body - they are a cooler brown tone. 4) The doll's leg fell off at least twice while I was handling her. I easily put this back on, but for people buying this for a child, this could be an issue. The cards are a very fun learning addition; I could nitpick the contents, but I think the only one worthwhile is that I think the crossword puzzle was a bit too small for the under 10 child who will probably receive this doll. My biggest gripe is the price point; as a collector, $30 is a decent price if you are getting a decent product. This doll is not, in my opinion, worth $30. I would put this doll in quality along the line of Barbie Fashionistas (which go for around $10, have various shades of brown, though without the articulation), the Naturalistas (around $10, all the dolls are shades of brown but no articulation) or Fresh dolls like Aniyah and Autumn (around $18 on the website, lots of shades of brown, articulation in all but the wrist). I understand this is a smaller company than Mattel, so I think comparisons are best to Naturalistas (which are positively gorgeous and I've been eyeballing them for awhile now) and Fresh Dolls (which I own several of), in which case, this doll still is way too expensive for what you are getting. Especially for a child, where price is even more of a concern, this is a big reason why I dock 2 stars. That said, I understand that it's hard to get a hold of non-white, natural-haired/curly dolls so if your budget can afford it for that little one in your life, I think Edith will make someone very happy.

My niece loves it, that’s all that matters .. :)
