MikasaAntique White 16-Piece Dinnerware Set, Service for 4

I've always wanted a set. Mine were destroyed years ago in an earthquake. I saw these and was drawn to the style. I liked that it was simple and pretty. My mom inherited China from her mother-in-law, and she decided to used them as Every Day dishes. This inspired me to do the same. When I received them the box looked a little chewed up, but the dishes were packed well and undamaged. They came as described and are beautiful. I'm excited to use them!

Over the last 40 years or so , I have had a lot of dish sets, china, stoneware, porcelain, but these dishes by Mikasa are by far the best. They are china, light weight, and beautifully made. I love the design, the style, and especially the cups. They can do it all, oven, microwave, freezer, and dishwasher safe. I especially like the fact that I can microwave a cup of water for tea or coffee and reach in and pick it up with my bare hands when its ready. There is no heat in the handle. Do you have any idea how hard it is to find that? These dishes are just wonderful!

These dishes are exactly what we’ve been searching for. Wahoo! They’re a well-made, classic, simple style that will pair well with accessory pieces and seasonal place settings. They’re lightweight and smooth while sturdy with regular use. We wanted something like this to replace our very similar, yet dwindling, Johnson Brothers set we purchased 30 years ago, and particularly ones that would remain cool to the touch after warming food in the microwave. While trying out heavier stoneware dishes before purchasing this Mikasa set, we discovered stoneware is greedy with heat and becomes a little too hot to handle with microwave use.We’ll definitely add on to this Mikasa set soon. Highly recommend!

I bough service for 12. I haven’t used yet, but unpacked and they were packed very well. No chips, scratches or breakage. I wanted something simple, yet classy and these most definitely fit the bill. The color is just sooooo pretty! It’s not bright white, but ever so delicately cream, but not beige or yellowish. Style is so simple but elegant. The bowls, I think are a nice size and the mugs are perfect size for a large group, not too big, but big enough and such a pretty shape. I can’t attest to durability as yet, but so far very very happy with them.

Edit, 3 years later: With extremely gentle use, these plates are now showing significant deterioration of the finish on the inside of the bowls. I put them in the dishwasher on the top shelf only and handwash items too large for that rack. The bowls put in the dishwasher have now had the gloss wear off, revealing fine black lines of wear. (That doesn't happen with any other items I put in the top rack.) I can't recommend this product. Cheaply manufactured.I bought this to replace what I thought was a decent set of Cuisinart dishes whose finish wore off after 4 years of regular use (eating/dishwasher only--no oven or microwave use). I got mine at a great value--$59 for this 16-piece set. Based on reviews, I checked ALL pieces carefully. My set is perfect--no specs or weaknesses. I won't use them in the oven or microwave (I don't own a microwave) as I think that will extend their life. I also tend to handwash them as well. I think all that dishwasher heat is hard on nicer dinnerware. Liked this so much I bought various completer pieces from both amazon and the Mikasa website. Highly recommend--but check all pieces carefully based on others' reviews.

These dishes are beautiful and lightweight. I hand wash them even though they are dishwasher safe. They look great in all dining situations.

I bought this set to supplement the set I bought about 15 years ago. Alas, it is not the same product I bought then, so I returned it. My old set is Ultima Plus Fine China which is light and durable. Apparently, Mikasa no longer makes Antique White in fine china. The new set is porcelain and heavier than the Ultima Plus. That said, the porcelain version would be perfectly fine for everyday china. It just didn't suit my needs.

I don’t usually write reviews, good or bad, but these dishes are so perfect I had to! I love them! They are so beautiful and each piece was in perfect condition. They were securely packaged and I received them in two days. I ordered 3 sets and I didn’t find one blemish on any of them. Also the price is great!

The dishes are not heavy and they look elegant. the bowls are huge and curve upwards into a round shape. The mugs are slimmer with this elegant curve from below. There are curved lines on both. They off white is still quite white,and so they go with anything. The dishes have curved edges and aren't huge and heavy. They go well with any occasion as they are just elegant enough and yet great for every day. The pictures of the dishes on amazon are accurate but need another background color ,so then you can see them better.

Orders that because it seen it at my parents place.Very light and nice in touch.No marks from knife or microwave or dishwasher- love that.Beautiful design .

This is not a Dinner Set - odd pieces.A very disappointing recent purchase regarding the Mikasa Antique White Dinnerware Set. The word ‘Set’ being the operative word in this instance. A Dinner Set like this should be manufactured with the same thickness, and same pattern. Why did Amazon supply two different products within my recently purchased Mikasa Antique White Dinnerware Set, which was one purchase of a total 16 piece Dinner Set ?The Dinner Set recently purchased and received from Amazon has two totally different thickness eg: Plates, Bowls and Mugs which were all included within that Dinner Set.Dinner and Salad Plates are thick, heavy and bulky with little to no pattern, they do not match the rest of the Dinnerware Set.The Cereal Bowls and Coffee Mugs are elegant, and fine, with exactly the same thickness of a Mikasa Antique White Dinner Set that I purchased some years ago. Dinner and Salad Plates are not the same quality.
