Cheap product didn't hold up. Might get to use it for a week or so guess that's why you get so many in the bag.

Easy fix
Standard chevy gm tailgate problem. Super easy to repair. Pop off the 3 clips holding the tailgate handle surround on. Find the tailgate rod where the plastic broke. Put on new plastic and sink it into the premade hole in the tailgate handle. Replace surround. You da man!
