How do they not slide down, Can they stop perfectly on the curtain?

The outside of the rope is the shape of the thread, It solves the problem of skid resistance,So don't worry about it slipping. You can choose the way you like to tie the knot.

How wide is the rope? What is the diameter, 1/4"?

Thanks for your inquiry. The diameter of rope is about 0.21 inch.

Which of your ties have a 1.6 diameter thick rope I want

1.6 diameter is extremely thick. This rope is not that thick. For what do you want to use it? It does the job for a 'tie back" as shown and is very beautiful.
