Immortal Amish!
Yunan-o-Misr-o Roma sab mit gaye jahan se.Ab tak magar hai baki naam-o-nishan hamara,Kuch baat hai ke hasti mi’ti nahin hamari Sadiyon raha hai dushman dau-a –zamana hamara –IqbalWith this verse of one of the greatest poet of India, Amish kick starts his book. Amish is one of the most popular and best–selling authors of India. He ignited one whole generation of youth to take interest and read ancient Indian mythology through his Shiva Trilogy and Ramchandra Series. This is his first non-fiction book. In this book, which consists of his articles printed in media and speeches given at various events, he has written some fabulous pieces on Indian heritage and history and their relevance in today’s India. He also touches some current delicate issues prevailing in India. He attacks on them but wordings are not harsh and severe to be offended. That shows his persona of truly sensible and knowledgeable being. The book is divided into four parts 1) Religion & Mythology 2) Social Issues 3) History 4) Musings. He discusses various religious, historical and social issues in depth. The topics ranging from religious and liberalism to caste-ism to myth of Aryan invasion theory and reality of invasion of India by British colony is wide enough spectrum in itself .One can see clarity of his thoughts on each and every issue. The language and flow of narration is very simple and lucid to understand.I am agnostic as far as organized religions are concern. But I appreciate his take on religious beliefs. He loves and worships Lord Shiva but he is more liberal towards other religions than those pseudo-liberal seculars I have read. Further, his knowing of swadhrama is totally as per my knowing!(Great minds alike!!hehe!!)His genuine concern over girls killing in womb is heart touching. According to the book, around 5,00,000 female fetuses are illegally aborted every year. This single issue needs urgent address above all religious, political, economical problems. Sadly,it is not vote-bankable enogh issue to consider as ‘genuine concern’.I loved his definition of a rebel .He lives by that. In his words, a true rebel is:“When you study the subjects that you want to, rather than what you are told to, it is healthy rebellion. When you start your own company and succeed, regardless of the naysayers, that too is rebellion. When you work hard and make your own living, rather than live off the money inherited from your parents, it is rebellion laced with self-respcet. When you marry the person you love, regardless of religious or community divides,it is the most beautiful rebellion. The root of all creativity is rebellion.”(Page-126)In the end part, he talks about his journey from banker to full time writer, his son and women of his life, which is very heart warming and inspiring.Overall, it’s nice, fresh read to know Amish and his musings on his favorite subjects. It also provides as a healthy starter to read non-fiction literature.I wish it gets read more by black heads than grey and flat!

Nice book but with no BOOKMARK
Why Amazon is not providing any BOOKMARK with their books? Atleast they should provide a bookmark with their books.

Immortal india review
I'm a big admirrer of amish writing style. The way he explains things keeps you engaged. this book is compilation of his various interviews, talks, guest lectures, articles etc. If you wish to know about india history, then this book is best thing to start off. This book provides you fact about ancient indian history which is absolutely not explained in more words but it ignites you to go forward and look in indian ancient history. It will increase your interest and compel you to know more about indian ancient history. He goes from indian mythology to indian ancient history to current indian social problem. He talk about LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) problem and present his views very clearly. He talks about why concept of religion is used and needed, he talks about his perception of god. He takes current social problem and relate it to our ancient way of approaching it and makes you believe that almost all problem has solution in our history. He talk about main problem of Hindu, Muslim and christian religion in current days.He take on youth and present his views which shows he has better understanding of indian history and mythology and he prooves that indian youth who are famously famed as rebelion are right and no where less indian than any old man or person who consider themself more indian.Book present clear view about aryan, aryan invasion theory (AIT) and aryan migration theory (AMT) and amish conclude that it's a myth and nothing else in his view as he don't see any evidence to proove any of those theories. In all and all It's worth reading.

Immortal India, content lives upto its name ....simply immortal
Amish Tripathi , the rock star author who made Great Lord Shiva a dude through his blockbuster series “The Shiva Trilogy” does not need any introduction. But I must admit that when I heard about or saw the copies of #ImmortalIndia , his debut on non-fiction book. I was a bit skeptical of picking it up. I mean I always have kept my favorite authors clearly demarcated as FICTION and NON FICTION writers. Having said that , I must also admit that I am an ardent Amish Fan which made me order #ImmortalIndia on preorder. The author proved me wrong by miles and bounds, #ImmortalIndia proves that there are no Fiction or Non Fiction authors but only great writers with amazing thought processes. The point is further proved the moment you are at bookstore either at a mall or a bookstore you would find this great collection topping the charts / book stalls. The book is divided into three broad parts i.e. Religion & Mythology, Social Issues and History followed by some insights from Amish under the heading Musings. The collection of his essays , interviews and speeches which were published in recent years are very thought provoking. He talks about (yes he is actually speaking in your head while you are reading) a wide range of subjects from Lord Shiva to LGBT and concludes with Bharat Mata Ki Jai. We are still a young and restless country but we are inwardly and awkwardly closed. Amish has touched upon some topics which by an large society considers to be a taboo but his thoughts resonant with the contemporary thought process. As I said Amish does not need an introduction, so if you have completed SITA ……………………..…. Go For This great read !!!
