Philips Norelco BG2039/42 Philips Multigroom Beard, Stubble and Body Trimmer

this is the second Norelco body groomer that I've bought. The first worked great for about a year until the battery didn't hold a charge. I took some responsibility for that - having kept it in its charging cradle the entire time. This second one is MUCH worse. It won't hold a charge at all and I've been careful to not leave it plugged in and only charging it when the indicator turns red. The battery has a hard time powering the clippers and they end up not be powerful enough to cut hair which is obviously problematic. It could be a great tool for body shaving bu the battery is beyond terrible.

Works fine for beard trimming for about a year. Read the other reviews; it seems like most users have battery issues after 3 - 18 months. Mine lasted a bit more than a year. Now, after a full charge, it will run for about 30 seconds.This would not be a problem if the batteries could be easily replaced. A quick google reveals that replacing the batteries is a major electronics undertaking that is likely to fail even if you are careful.In summary, do not buy this product.

I dislike almost everything about this device. I bought it just over a year ago and will order another brand after I finish this review, and it won't be anything from Philips Norelco. It does nothing well at all. I have a goatee and mustache, and for the past two months cannot get through shortening and trimming without running out of battery after a full charge. There is no precision whatsoever when using the shaving end around the mustache or goatee, so I always have to finish with a blade razor. And even in clear areas it doesn't shave well, even though I have a fairly light growth. It is very poorly balanced and too large. The device will not stand up in its stand, just flops the top of the stand back. You have to use the stand to charge, so when the battery runs low, you can't just plug it in to finish, so you end up half shaved and have to go back to the blade razor. I cannot believe all the good reviews of this thing, and you shouldn't, either.

This was a great product for the 3 months that it actually worked. Then slowly the charge would hold less and less time. Now it shuts off every 3 seconds and after 5-6 times of turning it back on, it is completely dead. Now it's just a paperweight.

This is my partners fourth trimmer from Norelco. The design/functionality has steadily improved over the years, but the battery is not so good. After only a few months, if left charging overnight it will make it through a whole trim, but fades towards the end (with the low power light flashing). This is frustrating as the batteries are not replaceable. The trimmer is well designed, but the battery is a bad joke.In addition it seems case design is not a strong point at Norelco, they have a track record of ill fitting cases for their trimmers. The case for the Bodygroomer BG2039/42 is too big, two narrow and has ill fitting pockets for the accessories. Did anyone try cramming everything into the case? The trimmer blades cut the thin mesh pockets, everything is bulging out...terrible design.Lastly, unlike previous trimmers, the cord/charger does not plug right into the trimmer, it goes into a poorly designed charging base, which connects to two metal contacts on either side of the the trimmer. It's not uncommon for the trimmer to slip out of the charger.All-in-all it has a lot of potential, but is poorly envisioned/executed. Should've been more carefully envisioned.

When new the battery life is suppose to last 50 minutes but realistically you’ll get about 40 min. After each charge the battery degrades and holds less of a charge. I’ve had the bg2039 since December 17 , 2017 it is now July 15, 2019 and I’m getting about 30 minutes of runtime. I’ve only used it a few times because it takes 8 hours to charge and I’ve had it die while only getting one leg trimmed.The foil side of the groomer needs to be replaced after a few uses to maintain a close trim.The other end works great just hope the battery lasted longer.The case it comes with is nice and compact.

Update: I trimmed my eyebrows at a no. 3 with this... except as I trimmed it slipped through (from light pressure) to a number 1. So now I have 1 eyebrow at a number 1 length. Do not buy.I have had this for a little over a year. The battery, on full charge, cannot make it through a full beard trim. I literally have to leave a goatee or moustache, recharge, then finish trimming. Cuts well, but needs more battery life. If you have a tiny face or a scraggly beard, it is probably ok.

First at all, it is not a retail box. It came in a plain brown cardboard box. Right out of the box, I felt the handle is different. Upon looking closely, I noticed panel gaps all over the handle. The plastic panels are not glue down properly. They are lifting!This production is meant to be waterproof and being used in the shower. Just imagine the water and soils gets in and stays in there. For the comparison, I have the old one for at least 5 years.The biggest gap could probably fit a penny, but all I have is a guitar pick. Needless to say, I am returning it.

This product ia not upto mark. I had bought it couple of months back but only tried it couple of weeks back for thw first time. It wasn't giving a closer shave and i had to use it multiple time on same spot to get a closer shave. I was in a hurry last time though ao i thought maybe i am not doing it right or may be its the moisture. I tried it for the second time yesterday and the results were still disappointing, i used it on my hands and there eere still hairs left out here and there even after moving it multiple times in different spots/directions. The earlier one i tried was much more quicker and efficient. I tried to file a return but seller denied as return window closed, i was assuming its under warranty so still something might work out. I will have to explore other options to get rid of it now. I also see its price dropped from 150 (2 months back) to 70 now so i believe it might have to do something with how pathetic the product quality is.

You have to run through the same area a few times in order for it to trim the area. Not what I'm looking for as it becomes a hassle. In addition, mine did not receive a stand.

originally gave this 5 stars but I’ve only had it for 4 months and one side has stopped working entirely. i have to say i am quite disappointed.

Complete disappointment, significant downgrade from the previous version of the same product. Battery issues right out of the box. Consistently overheats. Lower price point but significantly worse performance of product. STAY AWAY.
