Conair Quick Gems Hair Jeweler

I am so glad I ordered this for my 9 year old Granddaughter for Christmas. This was a big hit, she loved it. It's very sturdy and I think will hold up. Simple to operate. The jewels go onto the hair easily, my granddaughter very quickly was using it on her own hair and then, her Aunts hair and her big sisters hair😀. The jewels stay in without falling out, yet when you want to take them out of your hair they come out easily, with no pulling or any hair damage. What more could you ask? They look nice in the hair too.It takes 2 AAA battery's to operate and does not come with battery's. The jewels are very simple to load into the machine. The price is reasonable. The 9 year old got many other gifts Christmas Day, but the Conair HJ3BC Quick Gems Hair Jeweler was the big hit, with her. I have been asked by the 9 year old to please order more gems for her, which thankfully Amazon carrys as well. So I am happy to order some more. I ordered this a bit late for Christmas, but happily it was shipped quickly and got to me in time for Christmas.In conclusion, if any one is sitting on the sidelines wondering if this is a good item for a young girl, I would urge you to order one. It's good quality, easy to use , does not damage the hair at all, very easy to take out of the hair, yet stays in well when applied and the price is reasonable. I am so happy I got it for my Granddaughter and was so happy to see how much fun she had with it. I know she is going to wear some "jewels "in her hair, the first day back to school after Christmas, and best of all, she will be telling her friends her Nona bought it for her😊

I nearly didn't buy this product because someone here on amazon stated "ouch" that it was spring loaded and will pull hair out when removing. Well, my comment on that is BRUSH YOUR HAIR! If your hair is brushed you should have no issues removing this product. All you do is pull the gems apart and slowly pull to take them out. You can't tell me you've never had a hair pin tug at your hair once in awhile when trying to remove, or even a hair tie at that.Now this product is a bit annoying in the beginning. It doesn't come with the batteries installed you will need your own batteries. The annoying part is the compartment to put the batteries in are closed with a screw. Which ok no biggie right? Wrong...the screw is sooooo tiny a regular Phillips will not do the job. You need a very thin tipped Philips to get the job done. If you do not have this handy you will not be able to use your product right away. This is why I take away 1 star. If it wasn't for this I would've given it a 5 star rating.Once you get past that part the product is very simple and easy to use. The jewels come preloaded, however the extra jewels does not come with a case so you will need something to put them in. All you do is take a small strand of hair and place it in the hook area. You need to hold your hair into the compartment and simply push the button and release once the jewel is in place. You don't want to take the strand out till after you let go of the button and the thing that pushes the jewel into the hair goes back into place. I notice if you take the hair out before hand the jewel doesn't really get pushed into place properly.Hope this was helpful!

File this under PRODUCTS THAT WORK!!! And do what they say they will do. I was skeptical when my daughter got this as a gift a few years ago, but pleasantly surprised. Its easy. It stays in the hair. It looks gorgeous in the hair. Its fun. They have never gotten tangled in my daughters hair (I suppose it could happen, but I havent found it to be a problem). When I have had a problem with using it - I just needed to put in fresh batteries to make it work better. Also found it is best to use very very thin strips of hair. I think this would make a great gift for girls. Dont be afraid to give this one a try!!!

The product is fun and would be easy to use if it worked correctly. Upon opening , ours did not auto advance as it supposed to do when you push the button. I contacted conair via their website, and although received an auto responder email stating they would be in touch within 2-3 days, never received any contact. I called, and they were not helpful at all. I sent another email with no response.After using the product 3 times, the disc popped off and would not go back on. I called again and was instructed that i need to send conair the product, for which i must pay them for mail, and that it would take possibly 1 month to have them send a new product, if they deemed it necessary. This gift for my 6 year old daughter, and the conair customer service has been seriously disappointing

Cute product but not as easy to use on shorter or curly hair. It is fun for the girls. Wish it stayed better in their hair.

My 9 year old loves this toy - we bought it for her when she was 8. She really likes to play fashion/hair styles. I wasn't expecting much but actually the toy works really well. You just load up the circular portion with the gems, put the hair in the "strand holder" and press the button....a gem moves out and clasps around the hair. We had no issues removing them - they slide out easily. She's worn them in her hair to school and they've stayed in all day. She has thick straight silky hair. The gems are surprisingly good quality too. We've had this toy for over a year and she's still reusing the gems.I recently bought another as a birthday gift for an 8 year old. My daughter noticed that the one we bought more recently did not have green gems in it but it did have a hot pink gem in it that was not in hers. I guess they change up the colors. My only wish is that there was a refill kit for this item. It's not that expensive but I don't want 2 or 3 jewelers - I just need refills because you can bet we find the gems around the house. I think this is a great stocking stuffer and a great add on birthday gift for girls ages 6-10 (Maybe 12).
