Power concerns....
This product sucks enough power to constantly reboot some single-board computers (SBC). You probably won't be connecting more than one of these device to said SBC for that reason. The video isn't extraordinary but it's good enough.I see this product positioned as a security device which almost implies use with a small single board computer, just not all of them.

Good basic USB 2.0 security camera although IR needs a separate illuminator
This is a basic waterproof 2MP USB security camera. The first image above is from the camera mounted 8 feet above my driveway, using the motion program under Ubuntu 18.04. The camera body is made out of aluminum painted black. This camera is connected to a 50 foot Active USB 2.0 cable. The second image is taken at night when using an IR Illuminator, specifically the Tendelux 120ft IR Illuminator which is an 8pcs 1W high power 850nm LEDs. Note that I moved the camera to point down more so that the motion program wouldn't keep triggering every time the neighbors turned on and off their house lights at night. The IR LEDs in the camera ARE NOT powerful enough for anything more than a very limited distance, perhaps no more than 4 feet. Also when running in MJPG mode the camera has a LOT less night sensitivity. Without the IR illuminator I was able to get a night picture by running at 6fps in YUYV mode with the automatic exposure shut off and the exposure cranked up to 3000, using the internal IR leds on the camera but it still was a dim picture. And because the exposure was so high the slightest movement from bugs to dust would streak the picture. SO an additional IR illuminator is a must to use this for night vision. This camera uses the OmniVision Technologies OV2710 image sensor chip. This chip has 2 pixelformats, 'MJPG' (compressed) and 'YUYV' The high frame rates are NOT available on 'YUYV' With MJPG the frame rate at 1920x1080 is a max of 30fps. With lower resolutions you can get higher frame rates, 1280x720 is 60fps and 640x480 is 120fps.The camera has backlight compensation so it can be used recessed behind a window where it might not get a full field of view. However if you did this you would get IR reflections and not be able to use it at night.

stay away
Avoid these unless indoor and a short run...biggest con is you can run USB more than 30 feet without undervoltage becoming an issue.. if you want to run more than 30 feet you need a USB over CAT adaptor.2nd con moisture is getting into the camera and causing blur, rainbows and globes... It also made its way into the electronic as I got a thin spot on the camera but went away some after I smacked the camera.....Wish I didn't wait to install as I can't return

CORRECTION: problem wasn't the camera
After unscrewing the camera that seemed to have failed and bringing it in, I found that it worked just fine, and the duplicate that I replaced it with is losing its connection frequently too. The problem seems to have been with the USB extension cable I was using. (I thought I had ruled that out by testing the cable, but its failure seems to be intermittent.) So I have no complaints about the reliability of the camera after all! Original version of this review follows:This was pretty nice when it worked. After ten days of being outside, though (and one day after a snow- and rainstorm), it stopped working. (I had bought two, so I was able to plug the spare into the same port and confirm that the problem was the camera itself.) I had it mounted on a deck looking into the back yard as a wildlife-cam.I'm writing this during the night after discovering it hadn't been working for a few hours, so I haven't had a chance to take a good look at it in the light to see whether there's any visible damage (e.g., water inside it), so I don't know what went wrong — it just stopped showing up as a USB device. When it was working, the picture quality and especially the color wasn't as good as the CamPark trail camera (which writes to its own SD cards, which you then have to go fetch) I'd been using before, but the ability to watch the video in real time more than made up for that. The IR illumination at night was fine (see pictures).I don't know whether I just happened to get one bad camera (in which case I would gladly replace it with the same kind) or whether these are not really as suitable for outdoor use as advertised. I'll update this review if the second one I ordered at the same time lasts a while (or if it fails similarly).

Good value for the money.
If you need a USB IR camera, this is it. I capped it at 15fps and it delivered beautiful image quality. The night vision is excellent too... but there's some caveats. When the sun is going down the camera will spaz out and flicker back and forth between modes until it's sufficiently dark. We were able to get around this by making sure the outside light was on which made the two we had transition a little better.I also was not a fan of how dark the IR was. If someone or something is in the field of view within 30' it's awesome. You see everything. However, the image attached is what it looks like if you point it straight up at night. I have other IR cameras where the part of the house you can see is lit up bright white in comparison. Can't stress enough. This is an awesome cheap USB IR camera if you need to catch motion in a dark area. It's not the greatest for a camera monitor you're watching all the time.

Perfect for home surveillance.
I have been buying and testing cameras for my 4 camera Xeoma system, and this camera wins. It’s very well constructed, easily adjustable, and perfect for outdoors.I cannot attest to the motion detection aspect, as I have the software detect that for me.I just bought 3 more of them now that I know how it performs. This is a slam dunk!

Not much good after dark
Night picture is dark, Night leds or camera do not display a good night view. Day is not bad for a low end camera. Overpriced for performance delivered. dan
