Not Supported, No Longer Sold and Lots of Baked in Issues
UPDATE: With a couple years of using this system and recent experience I can no longer recommend this or any Zmodo System. I would suggest you stay away; they do not support their products and their systems have many inherent flaws.I have had this system for a couple years and recently when trying to expand my system and replace a failed camera discovered that after only a couple years they no longer support or sell the wired PoE cameras, PoE extenders or NVR’s that came with this system. They also recently removed some features from their app for the self-managed NVR systems. They really want to drive you onto a system reliant on their cloud service and throw away all your equipment to spend more money on new everything. I certainly won’t make the mistake of spending my hard earned money and putting my trust in Zmodo again if this is how they choose to support their customers.Over my past few years of use I have discovered several major technical flaws with the design, which can be overcome but must be self-diagnosed and resolved because Zmodo’s customer support is non-existent. A few of the most common issues, which can be self-resolved are:1. Many people have reported the wired cameras constantly going offline and then coming back online at random intervals resulting in and unreliable system that you can’t depend on. I did not experience this at first but as I got more of my cameras installed over time (it was a rolling installation) I started to experience more and more dropouts. By the time I had 8 of my 16 cameras installed I was losing over 12 hours a day of coverage per camera at random intervals. I spent many, many hours troubleshooting this issue and dozens of alternate network configurations. At one point I concluded (incorrectly) that the NVR itself was defective and submitted a warranty claim (well within the warranty period). Big surprise I never received a response back from Zmodo (still to this day). I continued troubleshooting and discovered that the system is very sensitive to any other traffic it shares the network with (even on a small home network with minimal complexity). I found that by isolating the NVR and PoE extenders on their own router (must be a router, a switch is not sufficient) that is fed directly off the primary router resolves the issue. This could also likely be accomplished by a VLAN on a managed switch but that is far above the capability of a typical home network user so the easiest thing to do is just grab a bargain router and use that to isolate the system.2. The cables provided are very poor quality, but due to the one connector end being a micro USB your sort of stuck unless you are brave enough to make your own. Zmodo used to make an adapter cable but they stopped selling those several years ago. If you run the longer cables through the attic or other area that gets over 100 degrees during the summer, you may also experience camera dropouts. The wires provided are very small gauge and not insulated and become resistive as they heat up, eventually resulting in a drop of PoE voltage which shuts down the camera. I had several cameras that I would loose video from midday for several hours throughout the summer. In my case I had no alternative to running long portions of the cable through the attic, so I made my own cables with standard ethernet cable and soldered micro USB connectors to the camera end. These new cables were not made from high end ethernet cable but were still sufficient to stop the dropouts during the heat.Original Review (I wish I could say I still felt this way): Awesome setup, perfect for the size of facility I am monitoring with room to expand. Well thought out design and implementation. NVR works great and I can reliably get live video or watch historical recordings remotely even through a small 5MB connection. Also, glad I can use longer runs of network cable with the use of an adapter for the longer camera runs. Good quality product and pretty smooth app/online interface. Certainly, a great product for the price.

Happy with Camera and NVR setup
I installed a mix of 20 cameras around my house and yard (14 wired, 6 wireless), so far (operational for 5 days now) picture quality is excellent, setup wasn't too bad (this is the 3rd updated system on my house since 2004) The new system replaced an outdated analog setup. I have the cameras setup through the Zmodo 32 Channel NVR and two repeaters to view on my TV in my living room (hooked up a wireless mouse to control from anywhere in the room) and on my Android smart phone, as well as my tablet and Chromebook....all work great. Getting away from the previous system of "Port forwarding" to view remotely was a BIG selling point. Still in the process of getting the cameras in the right viewing ordered, took a bit of time to figure out how to accomplish that, but overall not the difficult. I installed a 4Tb hard drive and the playback is working well. Still working on figuring out the motion detection for one camera I have fixed on my front door, may look into getting the Zmodo door contacts (any body have thoughts on that). Only one camera (wireless) is giving me some issues (going off line on and off)....did order a few more wireless and will replace it with a new one and see if that solves the issue. Overall pretty happy with the setup, price was reasonable for what was included....had to add some cat 5 cables, adapters, ran wires through PVC and pvc boxes to keep it water tight, so there was added expense for that, I will update this review in a few weeks after I see that every thing continues to work. (will add or subtract the stars accordingly)

24 Camera NVR System is a Decent Surveillance System for the price
This system works very well in some aspects and is annoying in others.Overall not a bad system, worth it for the price.Pro's:-Good value-Not a terrible amount of time spent mounting cameras-Small footprint-Came with most of the parts neededCon's:-Included "manual/instructions" (if you can even call them that) was less than a piece of paper long, and included no information on how to mount the hard drive. It took me scouring the website to find the directions, which then went quickly, meanwhile I have purchased 3 different hard drives for the unit and could not get 2 of them working; after finding those instructions, I'm sure the other 2 hard drives were fine.-Should have included more short wires, I guess this one is subjective, they made a choice to included more long wires which is fine if you need them, if not, it just means you have to bundle up lots of wire and hide them.-The Zviewer software for the computer leaves much to be desired. The monitor hooked up to the NVR for viewing is fine, but the PC program to view the cameras in another location really stinks. It is limited in what you can or can't do with it, and is not intuitive in the slightest.Past those problems, I can't say it wasn't worth it for the money, we now have way less blind spots at our office/warehouse and that is a good thing.Hope this helped.
