Not the best of Uplighters!
..or customer service!!....I've had plenty of Uplighters in the past couple of decades... and wasn't too impressed with this one.OK, from the unpacking..I understand it has to be well protected in transit... but.. I hate the fact that the light pole pieces (x3, plus base, and light dish, all loosely linked by the inner cable) is packed into huge chunks of 'hard polystyrene'.. coz I know that I'm going to have to break this up to dispose of it... in the normal bin.. as it's a non-recyclable material, & not only does that mean it'll 'snow' everywhere, but that 'snow' is heavily charged with static electricity, and sticks to everything!!Anyhoo, removing it from this wrapping, and the normal plastic on the pole pieces, you then have to thread the black cable, whilst screwing the pieces together, and pulling it through the base, so you'll have a long lead to plug in... but, it takes two of you (at least), to thread it through whilst screwing it together. The top piece, however, is so annoying,The design of the white cable on the top pole (where the dimmer switch is)... well, I'm baffled as to why they've left it so long, as you're told to be careful, as you have to coil so much of it into the top pole, before screwing the light dish on itself?! So, why not just have a shorter cable in the first place? It feels a little heavy, too, like a little lampost! .. and mine leans, and with the rest of my furniture all on the level, it really stands out, no matter which way I turn it?!As for the dimmer knob.. think of a clock face going from 12 to 12.. you turn it clockwise to switch it on, then when it hits about 6 o'clock, it's already as bright as the Sun.. then from 6-12 it does nothing?! What's the point of that?.. so there's not much of a 'range' in the dimming... and even the dimmest is still a bit bright. I love the fact that it's an LED, and saves on the ££.. but, if you're chilling on the sofa, watching a movie, you want a really dim light on.. to feel cozy.. so it should be a lot dimmer than it is, at it's lowest level.I bought two of these.. one for each corner of my living room... I returned one and gave a mate the other... but even after they received the one back on Feb 15th, I still have no refund back yet!!.. and they don't reply to messages.
