Great Story line, with romance and little adventure thrown in to make it an interesting read

Fun but very short
I absolutely adored The Fix-Up my only gripe was at how short it was. Although that did nothing to detract from the pacing of the story, no case of insta-love here although there is definitely a case of insta-lust 😉Told in third person narrative with alternating focus between Ben and Holly.Ben is not your typical geek, well apart from his genius level IQ and adorable awkwardness that is. Ben is undeniably charming, hot and when completely comfortable has more than a few alpha traits 😉 Lacking in confidence mainly due to his slimy father, who believes being a real man involves womanizing and drinking. Ben is trying to improve his public persona in order to step up to the position of CEO within the family company.Holly runs a very successful PR company with her best friend. Her career is threatened by her spineless ex-husband who views women as 1950’s stereotypes merely decoration and baby warmers. Blaming her career for the break-up of their marriage, Holly is understandably wary of career-driven men.A chance encounter at a furniture store throws Ben and Holly together; Ben needs personal re-branding while Holly needs a large sum of money to help bail out her business from her ex. They can each provide what the other is looking for but can they keep all that amazing electricity between them to a professional level. Will their past relationships both romantic and familial cloud their judgement?Ben and Holly are fantastic characters and you can’t help but root for them all the way through the narrative as they belong together. While the issues on both sides are completely understandable I did get a little frustrated with Holly when she blew hot and cold with Ben. Although Ben’s character development partly due to Holly’s expertise and partly due to his increasing confidence and comfort with his identity made The Fix-Up for me.The Fix-Up is my first book by Tawna Fenske is most certainly won’t be my last.

Common error
The author refers to Laphroaig as Irish whiskey when in fact it’s a Scottish whisky and spelt without the e.

Reviewed by LynseyThe Fix-Up is my first read by Tawna Fenske, I've read a few dark books lately and I was after a more light hearted read and when this dropped on my Kindle it sounded spot on.It's not a long book, alternating focus between Ben and Holly (I keep wanting to add Little Kingdom - Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom is a UK kids programme for those that don't know).Holly Colvin is a divorcee that runs a successful PR & Branding company. Her ex-husband blames her career for their break-up. you may expect her to be weak but she's not, she's fiery and funny but has put up walls that need knocking back down. The male character Ben Langley is a highly intelligent incredibly attractive sci-fi geek (my ideal guy), that lacks social skills in the business world, he's the new CEO of the family business Langley Enterprises, but his dad (a slimy womanising s***) doesn't think he's strong enough to handle the position and wants him to man-up.A chance encounter at a furniture store where Holly rescues Ben from Vampira the Sales Queen, brings them together, they are chalk and cheese but Ben needs to re-brand himself whilst Holly needs the money to save her business from her ex. It should be win win... But it's never that easy! This was a funny, witty read, Tawna's word play had me laughing out loud, I love geeky tech speak, and watch things like The Big Bang Theory, The IT Crowd, Chuck, and words like market penetration and “There’s the time Ben tried to pick up a woman by offering to defrag her hard drive.” have me giggling like a 38 yr old kid.I thoroughly enjoyed The Fix-Up and look forward to reading more Tawna Fenske in the future!

Fun and flirty
Ben is the new CEO of the family company, but he's a geek and doesn't have a clue how to change his image. That's why he hires Holly, to give him a makeover. She helps him with his presentation skills, his clothing and many other things. Holly is the owner of a public relations and branding firm and she desperately needs money. Helping Ben will also help her to keep her business going. Only they don't count on finding much more than just a business partnership when they start working together...The Fix Up is fun and flirty. There's a lot of chemistry between Ben and Holly, which is actually what most of the story is about. I liked the jokes between them and often laughed out loud. Ben is a geek, I like geeky main characters, so that was a big plus for me. Ben and Holly are great together, they have such a sweet and lovely vibe while the story is also sexy. The Fix Up isn't a deep and meaningful story, it's easy going and cute. It's a book that will cheer you up and that will put a smile on your face. It's perfect for a grey and rainy day. Ben and Holly are good looking, smart and kind, a combination that works. I like stories written by an author with a sense of humor and think The Fix Up is definitely amusing reading material.

Highly Entertaining!
This is a fast paced Rom-Com with plenty charisma, humor, and love. This couple meets because a geeky man becomes a CEO in need of coaching in PR. She is the PR company's CEO, who takes on the client. There are some sex scenes, but you can skip over them if that part is not for you. It was so much fun to read! Thank you, Tawna Fenske!

amazing Read
My introduction to this author, and I am impressed. Both main characters were well cast, well developed, and very credible. The story flows well, and keeps the reader engaged. For me, once I started I had to finish! And the steam - superheated. Keep your fan close.

A funny, sexy 'ugly duckling' romp.
Ben and Holly are fun and engaging characters and the author has certainly entertained. There were laugh out loud moments which and a few sex scenes the certainly hit the hot and bothered mark.I do wish there had been a little less innuendo an a bit more character development. I found it difficult that a man as hot as Ben, didn't have plenty of opportunities with other women. Why was Holly the one to make a difference in his life? And Holly's motivation was a little contrived.... if she was as good at her job as she appeared, refinancing shouldn't have been too big an issue. Also, by the final sex scene I was done with the innuendo and just wanted to get on with the good stuff. Sill, the authors voice was compelling, the sex strongly written and I was engaged in their HEA. This was my first Tawna Fenske book and I'll certainly look for another.

Hot geekiness rocks
Who doesn't love a hot geek? Poor Ben starts off with no clue but it doesn't take him long to get the sexy going after a chance meeting in a furniture store with his "wife" Holly. I loved the way she bailed him out with the overly flirty saleswoman. Maybe it wouldn't happen in real life (unless your lucky) but this is fiction and anything is possible. Then there's Ben and Holly's flirty banter, where you wonder if Ben knows what he's doing or not. I loved him anyway, from his Star Wars movie date to his oral skills. Holly never stood a chance. She tries to resist but it's futile, they need each other.Of course one of my favourite parts is when Ben sticks it to his old man, Ben knows what he wants and finally he's not afraid to go for it. He'll CEO in his own way, and have the life he wants not the one Lyle expects him too.

Cute romance
I enjoyed The Fix Up. The plot was fun and paced well. The sex sections were not over the top like most steamy romances.
