The jig clamped securely to the door and made matching the holes a snap. The metal inserts make it feel more sturdy also. The hole saws were of good quality although having used them once I cannot speak to durability. I had to widen the hole for the knob as there was already a knob but no deadbolt on this door. The old hardware was smaller than new stuff so I had to solve that issue and using the smaller hole saw to line up the jig worked great. I was afraid that it would not work as well since I wouldn’t see the pilot hole and just had to go all the way through from one side. The saw and jig did great and I didn’t have a jagged exit on the other side. FWIW it was a wooden door. The only difficulty, and this is not unusual of this kind of hole saw, is that getting them off the adapter is tough. I hit the thing with penetrating oil and it helped but the adapter for larger one is pretty stuck. Fortunately that doesn’t keep you from getting the smaller one on the pilot drill and the smaller one is easier to remove. If you need to install door hardware, this kit is well worth it.

This was a great jig that got the work done. I chose this Milescraft model over Ryobi or Irwin because this one has a metal circle around the area you drill. It seems durable and was easy to use as long as you triple check your measurements. Also follow instructions to drill from the opposite side after the lead bit barely comes through. Only complaint was the hole saw bits were not superb, but they did the job on the one door I needed. I'm confident they can do many more doors, but as someone familiar with drill bits, I was not impressed by their quality.

After decades of use my Knickset lock install kit wore out I wanted to replace it with a more compact unit and not plastic, most of the choices were either plastic or very expensive, since I don’t hang that many doors now I decided to go with this one and was not disappointed, it’s very well made easy to use even if you don’t hang a lot of doors. I was pleasantly surprised it seems to be a reasonable priced tool that should last a long time and the cost point was very good , if your looking for a door lock installation kit you won’t be dissatisfied, I work very well

Does a decent job. Yes big $ ones will hold up longer but if you have a handful of doors this works great. Well thought out piece at a good price like most MIlescraft products.

Selected the Milescraft door knob installation jig over the many other alternatives mainly because of the metal sleeve inside the 2 1/8" hole guide, plus overall favorable reviews. Used this to re-drill and install new door knob sets in eight doors with the old style door knobs with the smaller holes. The Milescraft kit worked great, the guide clamped very firmly to the doors, never slipped and didn't mar the door paint which was < 2 weeks old. There was no wear on the inside of the jig even after drilling eight holes. The supplied hole saws worked fine, no issues at all. I only used on wooden 1 3/8" interior residential doors, so cannot comment on suitability for oak or metal doors. 100% satisfied - would recommend without hesitation. To save time doing multiple doors I purchased a second arbor to eliminate hole saw blade changes (JIECHENG Bi-Metal Hole Saw Arbor Mandrel 3/8" Hex Shank with High Grade Pilot Drill bit worked great for the Milescraft 2 1/8" hole saw).

I have 8 new solid wood interior slab doors to install so ordered this for the handle sets install. First, the unit seems fairly well built even though its all plastic except for the steel guide inserts. The main reason I bought this was because of the steel guides, they seemed like a good upgrade over the all plastic jigs out there. The problem is with the drill arbor for the included hole saws. For the life of me I could not get it apart as required to use the smaller 1" hole saw. I tried everything but it was frozen solid. This meant that I had to come up with an alternative which was a PiTA and took a lot of time. Finally I used some drills I had on hand to make something up. C'mon MilesCraft, go the extra mile and just include an extra arbor for the smaller hole saw. Charge an extra $5 or whatever if you feel the need but the set is ruined by the junkie arbor provided. Otherwise the unit clamps solidly and is rigid. But the tolerance between the metal guide sleeves and the O.D. of the hole saws is sloppy so you can be off center when drilling. The drill bit will naturally want to wander to the right about 3/32 inch, which is not ideal when drilling the strike on a 1 3/8" door. Overall the idea is pretty good but the execution is a fail and it cost me a lot of time and frustration to get it to work adequately.

Did the job. Easy to use. Really enjoy using this product. Seems to be built well. I really purchased this for 4 doors, and its still as good as new. The knobs and fit perfect and operated excellent. Definitely recommend if you're needing to cut door knobs.

It got some of the job done. The kit was too stingy to have 2 guide bits. After drilling the large hole, I could not get the guide bit out to put it into the smaller hole cut saw. I bought this as a comprehensive kit. I needed vise grips to pry the guide bit out, but I had no such tools at this location. Something that was supposed to make my day easier in the end did not. I had to go to the hardware store to buy new tools.

I have used this a few times now and this door lock jig works well, the clamping is tight, no sliding on the door face and the metal inserts will make this jig last longer than other jigs that are only plastic.

Absolutely top notch. I bought an older home with backsets that were short, and holes that were too small... as there was already a hole there and I just needed to nudge it over and enlarge it, this method was the only way. I looked at the cheaper plastic versions but as I had so many doors to do, I wanted something that would last. Well, I'm SO GLAD I chose this one. It's well made, it's adjustable, it's sturdy, and the clamping mechanism is built in and simple to use. The hole saws provided with it, and the arbor, are well made and show no signs of giving up, even after 14 doors. I was having a laugh while using it because I was talking to myself and thought 'You should be recording a commercial for this thing right now' Very impressed.

Very helpful, doesn’t slip. Hole saws are fairly decent as well. I built 15 interior doors for my place. Did them all with this, saws are dull now but still a good investment.
