Get to know the woman who made many of NASA's early missions possible in this fascinating, nonfiction Level 3 Ready-to-Read, part of a series of biographies about people "you should meet!" Meet Katherine Johnson, a brilliant mathematician who worked at NASA in the early 1950s until retiring in 1986. Katherine's unparalleled calculations (done by hand) helped plan the trajectories for NASA's Mercury and Apollo missions (including the Apollo 11 moon landing). She is said to be one of the greatest American minds of all time. A special section at the back of the book includes extras on subjects like history and math, plus inspiring careers for math lovers. With the You Should Meet series, learning about historical figures has never been so much fun! Review: An educational treat!! - My 5 year old granddaughter loves this book. A great purchase. Review: Poor condition - I am sure the book itself is a good read but the condition it arrived in was disgusting. Suppose to be new but clearly used. Torn & greasy marks on it.

Girls, be ambitious !
映画『ドリーム』を観て、キャサリン・ジョンソンを初めて知りました。中学生の娘が興味を持ち、一緒に読みました。感銘を受けると共に、英語の勉強にもなりました。

Great book. Advanced for 6 year old boy.
If you see the video attached to my review, you'll get a sense for the text + pictures in this book. It's a really nice book for kids. I read it to my year old and we even did the quiz at the end. He loved the book. However, I don't see him reading it on his own. He's a good reader in general but some of the language is a bit complicated for his age.

Keeping History Alive.
My son read this book in one sitting. I have also bought the one on Viola Desmond, Harriet Tubman, Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela and other notable world-changers. Excellent reading for any age. Never too young or too old to learn. Knowledge is dynamic!
