A classic tool for camping, backpacking, and emergency preparedness, the lightweight UST StarFlash Signal Mirror has a built-in precision aiming system for accurate signaling. It's available in two models – a larger floating mirror that won't sink if dropped in water and a micro-sized mirror. In addition to using it for emergency signaling, it's handy for personal grooming as well. The virtually unbreakable StarFlash mirror also features a lanyard hole for convenient attachment to gear, and it works even in overcast conditions or at night with moonlight or other light sources. The standard size measures 3 x 2 x 0.25 inches (HxWxD) and weighs 0.7 ounces, and the Micro Mirror measures 2 x 1.5 x 0.1 inches (HxWxD) and weighs 0.5 ounces. Both are backed by a manufacturer's limited lifetime warranty. Note that the Micro Mirror is not a floating mirror. UST Brands has been manufacturing camping, survival, personal safety, and emergency preparedness equipment for over 80 years, including innovative LED lights, all-weather fire starters, premium outdoor cutting tools, camp kitchen products, first aid kits, unbreakable signal mirrors, and more.

Nice compromise on size for survival kits
Nice size for compact survival kits, found them as Prime add-on item if you search.

"A gentleman rarely needs one, but when he does he needs it very, very badly."
The quote is cribbed from Churchill (though he was talking about pistols). As a former Air Force Life Support Officer, I'd preach to my guys the utility of signal mirrors; "They don't need batteries, work even when it's cloudy, can be seen for miles, and if you break it, you've got *two* signal devices." Fast forward and I'm out of the Air Force, living in a desert, with the occasional SAR training flight overhead from the nearby base. Another one of those "hopefully I'll never need one of these" items that would be hard to MacGyver if/when you actually do need one. This mirror is acrylic instead of glass, so I don't have any reservations hanging it around my neck on a lanyard (I think a face-first fall with a glass mirror could make a bad situation worse). For hikers in an area with spotty cell service, I think one of these would be a no-brainer.

I hope never to need it, but like the quality of it.
This was as described, so I have to give it a good review. I hope I never have to test it in real life.

Apparently these were once made in the USA but are now made in china but somebody forgot to change the ad and lower the price accordingly. Also, "scratch resistant" must mean something different in in china than it does in the United States. It does float and reflect light though.

Over priced
Yeah, not bad but not for the price I paid. Seems like the same thing as the cheaper versions. Diffently not scratch proof.
