Very good - but very warm
As I walk our dogs a couple of times a day all year round I usually buy proper waterproof overtrousers (which these are not),but have found they generally only stay waterproof for a year or two at best. However,my wife,an occasional walker, has a similar pair to these and swears by them,so this year I thought I'd give them a go.As I say, they are certainly not overtrousers, particularly because they have quite a thick lining and have no zipped vent at the bottom of the legs to allow you to put them on over boots and trousers, but that aside I have found them to be very comfortable,a good fit in my usual size, although they sit more on the hips than round the waist, waterproof and wind proof. They have three roomy zipped pockets,an elasticated waistband, although no drawstring so you might need a belt and belt loops are provided and they can be tightened at the ankles. They are also warm, which is great on cold, wet mornings, but as I have discovered not so good on warm and windy days when passing heavy showers make them mandatory.I've just got back from such a walk and I'm exhausted and spent most of the time wishing the looming black clouds would deliver on their threat and cool me down. These will be perfect if we have a cold wet winter, but I think I'm going to have to invest in a proper pair of waterproof overtrousers for those mild, wet days we seem to get all year round now.

Very good- mind the button!
These are great for hiking, comfortable, stretchy and waterproof. The lining is soft, no need to wear anything underneath. The only issue I have with these and why I didn't give it 5 stars is: The button on the waist is inside, it's tricky enough at home in the warm and dry. I wouldn't want to deal with the button with cold wet hands. Whilst it isn't often that you need to remove your trousers whilst out it can happen. It has the button and a press stud. You need to do both up, I found the stud pops undone easily without the button done up. Whilst I'm not the slimmest person 36" waist is not massive! It may not be a problem on slimmer people. On a more positive note these really are comfortable, they do not make your legs sweaty like the plastic 'over trousers' available. I'm pleased with them, warm, keep you dry with a nice fit.

far too small
ordered these through amazon from Outdoor gear UK. Ordered a 36" waist as all my other Craghoppers trousers are 36" waist but these are ridiculously small or I have put on a lot of weight since this morning! If you decide, I would recommend you order at least one if not 2 sizes bigger than normal. To add insult to injury I have had to pay for the return postage, not at all impressed and will avoid Outdoor Gear UK in the future.

Lining makes them warm and comfortable. They do sit low down on the hips ...
They kept me dry in torrential rain yesterday, definitely waterproof, shame my supposedly waterproof boots (not a Craghoppers product) didn't match the trousers! Lining makes them warm and comfortable. They do sit low down on the hips but that's not a problem for me.

For winter use mainly, Waist size is suspect
Although I nearly bought these via Amazon, I prefer trying them on first. I found a pair in a local outdoors shop for £45. They are well made and waterproof but be aware that the fleece lining makes them too warm and lumbersome in outside temperatures above 10.C esp if you are hiking and hill walking. In addition a 34" waist size was just right for my 32" waist. No I am not kidding myself, I really am 32" waist and the 32" waist size pants would have been too tight on me. Ideal for winter use though.
