Its meile perfect, but it is heavier than I expected. I feel like my old canister meile was lighter.Its perfect for my condo with hardwood floors and light carpets.

This is a fairly heavy "electric broom." It's not a dust buster or an upright vacuum cleaner, and it does not stand up on its own. But it works very well. The brush has two settings, one for hardwood, and one for carpet. If it scratches your floors, that's because the brushes are retracted. I have hardwood floors, and it works just fine. I really like this, and actually use it more than my canister vacuum cleaner (also a Miele) because it's so easy to use and put away. I store it leaning against the wall inside a closet. It makes quick work of cleaning up my kitchen, which is always dusty because it gets so much use. The only complaint I have is that the bags are pretty small and don't hold a lot. I bought the HEPA filter, which is important to me because I have allergies. Overall, I'm very pleased with this vacuum cleaner. It's expensive, but the Miele quality is worth it. My other Miele is more than 20 years old and still going strong.

Having read that Miele products are among the best, I sprung for this vacuum as I had all hard floor surfaces in my old house. I am more than pleased with this purchase! The vacuum is surprisingly quiet (save for the suction noise), and picks up the dirt well. I also love that it is a bagged unit, and the quality is substantially better than anything in the big box stores! Cord length could be a little longer, but I am not complaining. I have since moved to an apartment that has carpet in the bedroom, but hard floor surfaces elsewhere, and have recently purchased a turbo brush head as straight suction isn't ideal for carpeted surfaces.

Expecting weekend guests I wanted a small, plug in vacuum for my upstairs guest bedroom because my three year old portable Oreck vacuum did not turn on and the three Oreck stores were suddenly gone when I called. While Consumer Reports rated the Shark highly, it was not available at Bed Bath & Beyond. My big vacuum is very heavy and difficult to carry upstairs. Reading reviews I ordered the Miele since Amazon could deliver the next day. While it does clean the carpet it is heavy and does not stay upright so it is not easy to store needing to slant against a wall. I can lift the Oreck with two fingers. The Miele is quiet and is very good on stairs but I regret the purchase.

I should have paid more attention to the negative reviews. I love my Miele canister vac, but was looking for a lighter weight vac for quick clean ups. This failed. It is heavy, very hard to maneuver, and has so much suction I could barely move it. Perhaps a younger, stronger person could handle this vac with ease, but this senior has to return it!

I am so glad I ordered a Miele Swing H1 vacuum cleaner! I had been looking for a smaller good vacuum to use in my house, witch has a large open concept area with wood floors. I prefer to vacuum often and in sections, and the Miele Swing allows me to do that efficiently, and without a lot of effort. I love that it is light weight, and maniobrable. I think, I will be ordering another one to use in the garage to vacuum our two cars. I am very pleased with my purchase. I made a great choice with the Miele Swing H1!

Light, powerful and has a long cord, all I need in a vacuum cleaner. I had the red one of those for 6 years - I have pets and I vacuum my home every single day. My red one lasted for over 6 years. I looked for a new one and I was not able to find the red one again, the closest was this black one. I have not seen many differences, it seems to be very similar. It is pricey but durable.

It's really much too heavy for the type of usage it's intended for, and especially so since it doesn't have the ability to stand upright on its own. I'm a huge fan of of my Miele canister vacuum so it came as a big disappointment to find that this unit is just nothing short of awkward to use. I don't recommend. :(
