Delicious unique waffles
I was expecting just the typical add water and cook directions so I was suprised to see a bit more complicated directions than I expected. However, they turned out delicious and worth the slight bit of extra effort. They are slightly crunchy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. The purple batter is fun and they turned out great.

Outstanding
This is not like regular waffle mix. Instead of having a batter to pour onto the waffle iron, you actually need to mix according to the directions and then shape it into balls and then dip the balls in sugar and put the balls, one by one, on your waffle iron and then close the waffle iron to press it down. The waffles are not very big at all, I guess because the balls are not very big. Haha! It's a little crispy on the outside and chewy in the middle. These are outstanding mochi waffles!

Interesting twist!
Trying these mochi waffles was a fun twist on our typical waffles. Our kids loved making them, especially getting to take turns and watch as the dough went from runnier to harder to stir! We dropped our dough balls into powder sugar before cooking; you can also use granulated sugar, but I was worried it might get a little too crispy. The powder sugar gave it a light crisp, and it really added to the flavor. These are quite chewy, which is what we expected! Our 4yo didn't want to try them, and I was a little relieved, because I was worried how he would handle the chewiness. Our 14yo absolutely devoured them!

A Different Spin on Waffles
I'd seen ube products around and was curious about the unique flavor. This product requires the addition of milk, an egg and vegetable oil. And, of course, you need a waffle maker. The powder contains sweet potato (accounting for the purple color) as well as sugar, among other ingredients, but nothing artificial.I'm confused by the Nutrition Facts section, which shows the serving size as "227." What does that mean? Nonetheless, the instructions are straightforward and these were easy to make. My waffle maker is small and produced eight waffles from one batch. These waffles are good, faintly sweet, but not that different from traditional waffles. I would eat them again but miss my usual whole grain base.

The batter is purple
Just to warn you, the batter is purple. My husband saw me mixing the batter and stated he would not be eating that. (Spoiler alert, he at it.). The batter mixes nice and thick and cooks nicely. Once cooked, the waffles were a golden brown. (Don't let anyone see the batter). We all agreed the waffles were delicious.Mochiholic, Ube Mochi Waffle Mix, 12-ounce

Has that chewy consistency of sticky rice that mochi is known for
I found the waffles from this mix to be quite different from regular waffles with both taste and texture. The only similarity is that it does look like a waffle which of course, makes sense because it’s cooked in a waffle machine. The batter is much thicker than typical waffles and almost like cookie dough. That means you do need to go with much larger sized dough balls than the ice cream scoop size that they mention. The cooked waffle does come out with a dark, and ever so slightly crispy outer layer. The insides have a much more chewy texture. It’s also a dark purple color from the sweet potato flour in the ingredients. With a dusting of powdered sugar, it is sweet and delicious.

Review for Mochiholic, Ube Mochi Waffle Mix, 12-ounce bag.Love this waffle mix. The batter is darker than other brands I have used. The waffles are fluffy, crispy on the edges, and very tasty. Would order this again.
