It's Good
I have to just get started and crochet some of these socks. It's pretty basic crocheting but one has to pay attention to the pattern. It's doable.

Limited variations
This is a single pattern really, with some small changes in color and stitch pattern. There is only one type of heel featured: the afterthought heel. In other words you crochet the sock and then add the heel onto it. Since I'm not a fan of that type of heel, this was not as useful for me. I have made a variety of crochet socks, and there are a lot of different ways to make the toes and heels. I also have Rohn Strong's book, which gives a bit more variety.

Learn to Crochet Socks the Toe Up Way
The book is great. Good pictures and easy to follow directions. May need some experience before starting, but if you like to do new projects, these patterns are wonderful.

I am timid about learning this technique. But this book is going to be my go to book.

Too time consuming
The rating is more a reflection of spending the required amount of time to crochet a sock (which, as the book points out, results in a sock with much less 'give' than a knit sock) In the same amount of time, one could complete a couple of hats, at least one scarf, or a goodly number of squares.

Neat and precise
I have given this little book 4 stars even though I haven't dared try any of the patterns yet. I've studied the patterns carefully and they do read as if I could attempt one or two. I have found the introduction to be very helpful and interesting for a novice sock maker like myself. The photographs of finished socks are colouful and the patterns themselves are clear and precise giving skill level, finished size, materials and gauge - what more could you want. Now I just need the courage to have a go.

first book without corners to heels.
The 16 pages within the cover are well written. The patterns are clear and precise, although it ought to be noted that it is written in American-english. so full of sc and dc, when it means dc and tr.I have also decoded that to help keepthe socks up, I will knit from the top row of stitches and rib. Therefore not having a rib sown to the sock. But on the whole very pleased with the booklet.

Found an error
First pattern has an error. Shame they don't proof read and typeset more carefully. I'm just finishing first sock from second pattern and its gone well so far.

Nice addition!
Easy to read, all the projects are intermediate so not for beginners, but for those who can already crochet a nice addition to the collection.
