The Gable Faces East: A Novel Paperback

An absolute gem of a book! I agree with the readers who say Jess was a difficult character to love, I can admit He was. But once you get past His selfishness and childish behavior, it’s worth the time and patience.Overall, this book was very well made, regardless of what ppl may say.Alexa is a wonderful character, wise, kind, intelligent and didn’t put up with Jess’s crap.There is a couple twists in the book, that did catch me off guard at first, but overall I accepted.I apologize, this review is not very detailed but just skims of my thought process while reading the book! Lol

This book is one of my favs. Once again, reading is some years back I wanted to add it to my collection. However, it appeared to be out of print. So, I sat down at my computer and did some on-line searching. I was delighted to see that it was listed on Amazon.Thank you!

Good book. This book was intense. I couldn't put it down. However, I felt the book was kind of hokey and not very realistic in parts. I figured out the ending about half-way through. I think that she should have developed one cohesive story line. I felt like I read 3 stories rather than just 1 (all good, but not related very well); this was a little different for Anita Stansfield. All the characters were flat except Jesse and Alexa. She had some great characters that she created, but didn't really use. I think that she should have built-up the supporting characters a little better, or at least gave them a heroic death or part of the conflict. The supporting characters were "the family", but never changed or seemed indifferent to the events. They simply existed, as long as they were needed, then just disappeared and re-appeared as necessary. Good read though. I'll re-read this story several times. I enjoyed it. It was a good read. I cried and laughed, which is what I look for when I read Anita Stansfield.

Anita Stanfield books keep my interest. I love this one and love that she keeps them clean. Since I've been a horse woman when younger, this one is especially interesting to me.

I looked for this book for YEARS and am overjoyed to have finally found it! I received this in great condition and I can't wait to dive in!
