Borealis SIing Bag | Crossbody Adjustable Strap, Water Repellent Finish, Multiple Compartments, Tablet Sleeve

I own the Patagonia Atom Sling and the Osprey Daylite Sling. This has the water bottle holder on the outside in which neither Atom nor Daylite include on their bag. I can fit 2 water bottles on the inside for my partner and I, and one water bottle on the outside for our kiddo. I cannot fit 3 water bottles in the Atom nor Daylite. The Borealis has become our family default bag due to this feature. I really love the mint color with the hunter green accent. It is nice. The Borealis has the front long zipper pouch like the Daylite Sling. The open interior similar to the Atom Sling, and it also includes an envelope style pouch. A mesh inside pocket similar to the Daylite Sling. The inside space provides for a little more interior organization similar to the Daylite bag and unlike the Atom bag. The zipper goes halfway down one side (end at the water bottle holder) and all of the way down the other. This makes it easy to access the inside contents of the bag. I water bottle holder is partially padded and partially mesh. Love this. It's not a huge pocket, but it is big enough to easily fit a Smart bottle of water or similar shapes of containers. The Borealis has a longer zipped pouch for your phone on the shoulder piece similar to the Atom Sling. Lots of little places to clip keys, sunglasses, etc. The back of the bag is lightly padded. It has a bungie cord on the outside for storing shirts, etc. unlike either of the bags. LOVE this feature! All of the features I love individually from each bag is included which overlaps for the features that are deficient from each bag. It is as if the two bags had a fling, and this was their baby. This bag is nearly perfect. The cons: I wish the inside had a small little key clip. Osprey always has the little red key clip. This would have been a great addition inside of the larger opening. There is one located in the mesh pocket, but it's too difficult to access (see comment below). I do not use it for my keys because of this access issue. The front outside zip pocket (similar to the Daylite) is lined with ... fleece? Why would NorthFace do this? When my sanitizer bottle leaks all over the inside pocket because the lid was cheaply made, it soaks EVERYTHING. Also, this will be a pain to dry when I finally wash the bag to remove sweat marks. Why would you do this NorthFace? Just, why? It would have been a much better design had it been the quick dry material of the Daylite bag. The fleece makes it difficult to push items into the pocket and definitely when you try to pull them out. I am able to squeeze less into the pocket too. I LOVE this pockets on my Osprey and hate that the pocket is so small on my Atom. I was really excited when I saw the Borealis included a pocket that more closely aligned with the style of the Daylite. Then I opened the pocket and started to cry. ... Not really. But I was sad. ... This was an awful design decision. If I could change one thing about this bag, this would be it. The zipper (next con) is annoying, but this makes it difficult to keep the bag clean and hard to use. Super annoying. The zipper for the inside mesh pocket zips left to right. That seems like it would make sense, but it is awful for trying to get items out of the mesh pocket while wearing the sling bag. I essentially have to take the bag off so that I can hold the bag a different way in order to get to the zipper. If the bag is empty then this would not be nearly as annoying, but since my bag is never empty this becomes annoying enough that I hate using the pocket. I understand that maybe the design team thought overtime the zipper may more easily open, or it would accidentally get opened if zipped from right to left. However, it seems like they simply did not test the bag's functionality with multiple types of customers. It's pretty obvious that in order to get a wider pocket the zipper needed to go from edge-to-edge. This is nice. Though, I wish they would have made the zipper edge-to-edge, from right to left. I would only need to partially open my bag, while on my person, to grab a quick band aid, my keys, etc. The padding on the back of the bag is awesome if you're tired of sharp, pointy items from inside the bag poking your back. The downside is that it adds a little weight, and it gets warmer faster. It's only noticeably heavier to me because I'm used to wearing the Osprey Daylite which feels lighter than the Atom. Not a deal breaker, but worth noting if you plan on wearing this all day on a bike ride or on an outside walk where you may have sweat marks on your back. I would not wear this to a work event that required my back to stay dry. I just noticed it already shows dirt and sweat marks on the shoulder strap. It has only been worn 3-4 times. Maybe a dark color would hide that better? I have owned the Daylite and Atom bags for years without either showing sweat marks. Those have definitely been worn on hot, sweaty days. Maybe the material on the Borealis is more prone to staining? No idea. This is nitpicky, but worth mentioning in case it is a problem for other wearers. Due to the shape of the bag, it does not sit as comfortably as the Osprey Daylite or Patagonia Atom. If forced to choose, I would say it felt more similar to the Atom, but I find the Daylite more comfortable to wear. I have a petite frame (5'1"), and the thinner teardrop shape of the Osprey is far more comfortable and does not slide down as easily. The Atom's shoulder strap does not fit as comfortable as the Daylite. The Borealis design also tends to slide on me because the weight of the bag is not evenly distributed. Not a deal breaker. However, worth mentioning in case you are comparing between the three bags and you have a petite frame like me. Overall, love the bag. I definitely recommend it. I know I said the biggest annoyance is the fleece lining, but now I am wavering over the zipper of the interior mesh pocket. The benefit of the mesh pocket replaces a deficiency in the Atom bag. The larger front fleece lined pocket also counters a deficiency of the Atom bag. I use this as an all-purpose bag for kid stuff (first aid, toys, snacks, water) and adult stuff (allergy meds, keys, wallet, phone, sunglasses, etc.) and family needs (water bottles, more snacks, etc.). I need every bit of organization I can get. I love the functional details that are similar to the Atom bag - shout out to the front zipper phone pocket - but I need the functionalities that were meant to be similar to the Daylite bag. Otherwise, I am forced to return to choosing between the Atom and Daylite, knowing each having their deficiencies. I hope this helps!

My wife asked for this for an upcoming beach vacation. She wanted to bring a bag to hold our beach towels, snorkel masks, water bottles and sunscreen. And it did! The expandable exterior holds heavy items so the capacity is more than just the interior of the bag. The silver color is a great neutral and we found it would be easy to spot clean. The crossbody fit was good and she said it fit comfortably. The zipper quality is great, holding up well even with it full. We still had space for keys, phones and slim sunglasses cases. I was able to fit my thin wallet in as well. Highly recommend if you are looking for a little bag that packs well and holds a lot. I even wore it as a 5’10” euro slim build guy and it was adjustable to fit me comfortably as well. We will be using it again and again for kayaking and SUP trips too.

I LOVE HER, perfect hiking bag I took it the next day to enchanted rock. It held everything perfectly. I fit 2 large water bottles, snacks, my phone, keys and a mini med kit. It has a soft lined zipper pocket on the inside with a key clip. I will say the outer "bottle pocket" will not hold any bottle I have, unless you severely crush a normal plastic water bottle. I almost bought a Patagonia bag like this then I was also looking into Cotopaxi on here but I liked the look of these way better and the extra pockets.

I guess I have no concept of what 6L is. This was smaller than expected but it is the right size for light travel or commute with just the essentials. The opening is great: super wide so you can get stuff in. The phone/front strap is tiny. I would not put my phone there. The water bottle is where I’d put or the front pocket it if I wore it in the front (backwards); others wise, I carry my phone in my jean or coat pockets. Some say the cross strap has slim cusionioning compared to others, I I think it's fine. I don't need the bulk of a heavily padded strap and this thing should not get that heavy so a thick pad is not necessary. The big miss is the strap. I’m a normal man and this thing barely fits. 6” more and this would have been perfect. It would fit a kid great. The issue is it barely fits me with just my shirt on. However, what if I wear it over a light jacket or vest? Super tight! Debating on keeping this, but the quality is there.

Great sling bag, light weight with plenty of room!

This bag is a good size. However, it's way over priced for what you're getting. There are better options for $25 here on Amazon. I get you're paying for the brand. What I don't get is that a company that charges you more because they supposedly build quality gear, made some poor design choices on this. I appreciate that its lightweight, thats what I wanted but some things don't make sense to me. The back of the bag has thick padding where it touches your back. It's unnecessary, the pack is so small. Unless you put a spiked bar of lead in there you don't need that much padding on the back. It takes away storage space in an already small area. Meanwhile... the strap has no padding. It doesn't make sense. Why would my back need padding but not the area that is supporting the weight of the pack? The strap should be padded. Also the the strap should be wider for longer. It would give you more comfort if you wanted it lower on your back. The strap should be longer as well so it can sit lower on your back. Last, the bottle holder barely fits a 20oz bottle. Plus it could be deeper. Oh, and the strap pocket is useless unless you have a flip phone. The only thing they got right is the size. For the price the practical design features are missing in a big way. I don't recommend it.

Update April 2026: Took this as my primary daybag for a week-long trip to Universal Studios in Florida. Bag worked flawlessly, and was the perfect size to fit in the free lockers outside the more intense rides. I purchased this sling exclusively for a 2 week trip to Italy. Rome, San Vincenzo, Fiesole & Venice. I did bring a smaller sling bag and a backpack, but this was my daily driver. I carried a 16oz Nalgene in the little side pouch, my GoPro & wallet inside, and sunglasses in the outside pocket. I actually did use the bungee cords on the outside to strap in a kid's stuffie when they got tired. It was super hot in Italy (August 2025), but I found that moving the pack from my side to my chest occasionally kept me from getting too sweaty. I did wear it on my back a few times, especially useful when one of the kids crashed and needed to be carried for a little bit. Held up great, got wet and dried quickly, zippers worked without issue, and the color/style was exactly what I expected. The front pocket is lined with soft material, so great for sunglasses or delicate items. Even saw some other people rocking this sling as well. Highly recommend.

Ho letto molte recensioni prima di acquistare questo zainetto e, dopo mesi di utilizzo, posso finalmente scrivere la mia. Partiamo dall’uso che ne faccio: lo porto soprattutto quando vado al mare o al parco con i miei figli e voglio avere con me due bottigliette d’acqua, portafoglio, chiavi, telefono, occhiali da sole, una merenda e la crema solare. Nonostante le dimensioni contenute, riesco a organizzare tutto molto bene. Una precisazione importante: a mio avviso la tasca laterale non è adatta a portare una bottiglietta d’acqua, perché il peso sbilancia lo zaino e tende a farlo scivolare fastidiosamente verso sinistra. Io la utilizzo invece per gli occhiali da sole, mentre nella piccola tasca sullo spallaccio metto il pettine. In questo modo il peso rimane ben distribuito e praticamente non sento lo zainetto sulla spalla. Mi piace molto la possibilità di posizionare lo spallaccio sia in diagonale sia sul lato della spalla e trovo molto utili i diversi anelli ai quali posso agganciare, per esempio, il moschettone con le chiavi. Molto comodo anche il sistema che permette di far scorrere rapidamente lo zainetto dalla schiena alla parte anteriore del corpo, ritrovandosi con la zip principale immediatamente a portata di mano senza doverlo togliere. I materiali sono ottimi e danno una sensazione di grande resistenza; le zip sono ben realizzate e, soprattutto, ogni cosa sembra avere il suo posto. Ho apprezzato particolarmente l’imbottitura dello schienale, che aiuta a non sudare e impedisce di percepire sulla schiena il contenuto dello zaino. All’interno è presente anche una tasca imbottita, utile per trasportare un piccolo tablet. Lo trovo decisamente più comodo e meglio realizzato rispetto al piccolo zainetto Quechua di Decathlon che utilizzavo in precedenza. Nell’uso quotidiano si nota che non si tratta semplicemente di uno zaino piccolo: è un prodotto studiato e progettato con attenzione, soprattutto per quanto riguarda ergonomia, distribuzione degli spazi e praticità d’uso.

This product gets a lot of criticism for being too small but for me it is the perfect day pack for a short hike or day out running errands or sightseeing. Definitely not for a long hike as the water bottle sleeve is too small but my S’well 9 oz bottle fits nicely. Also love the inside pocket for wallet/keys and the pocket on the shoulder strap fits my iPhone 16 Pro. Don’t think the Pro Max would fit though. I am very pleased with this product. Love the berry colour.
