The product is neat, clean, compact and easy to install. I will write a further review later on it's performance as I just installed it on February 7, 2021. Feb 15, 2021 Took 15 minutes to install and within 2 days was noticing a vast improvement in well water quality. In less than 2 weeks the brown stains in the toilet bowls are disappearing. I was skeptical that this product would perform as described at first, but I would recommend this unit for use with any household water system. no more lugging bags of salt for me. Don't hesitate to buy this unit, you'll love it.

BOTTOM LINE: After 3 years... still working strong! Tremendous time-saver and money saver on continually replacing salt weekly to monthly! Customer support is fine also! My first interest in this were the reduction of unnecessary chemicals (salt), the cost and time savings as well as the technology. We have very hard water. The TDS (total dissolved solids) is extremely high. Lots of calcium precipitation with this or the salt-water treatments. Installation location on incoming city water pipe: We installed our Yarna unit before the house water shutoff valve and connected the cord to a standard wall outlet in the basement. We did not use an extension cord. We have unplugged and reinstalled the wrapping coils at least once as we wanted a tighter fit than we initially had. Hot Water Heater to Navien A2: We had an old 60 gallon hot water heater that we replaced with a Navien A2 unit after about 1.5 years of using the Yarna unit. Both are were in our basement installed just below the kitchen. The Navien has a pre-filter so after a year we had it serviced. There were some slivers of calcium buildup in the pre-filter which we removed. There has been no negative impact on the Navien A2 unit so it's working fine. Dishwasher: We have a Bosch dishwasher (15 years old?) that exhibited serious internal calcium (white) buildup on the bottom and sides after we decided to not use the salt-treated softwater approach. Distance from the Yarna unit is about 20' (basement to kitchen). Then we installed the Yarna CWD24 as our city water lines are 1" (CWD30 works for 2" max). After about a year or so, I noticed that the dishwasher deposits were coming off. Additionally, our dishes were looking better with less calcium on them. I eventually purchase the Bosch Dishwasher Quick Descaler (#00312918 - 2 pack). The first time I used it it really (!) cleaned the insides of the dishwasher. About 6 months later, I used it again and the insides are sparkling. So we have a 'new' dishwasher! ;-) Faucets: With such success on the dishwasher, we then went to our faucets (9 in the house - some chrome, some brass). I didn't do the hose connections on the outside. We put CLR in 50% strength on almost all faucets, some with 100% strength and let it soak over night to nearly a week! In all cases we had success. The only issue we still have would be related to where CLR can't get to but these are being taken care of via the Yarna unit's ability to 'soften/eliminate' the calcium buildup in the pipes. Shower heads: Same results with CLR but we were able to remove the shower heads and soak them. Toilets: Inside the water tanks we noticed the buildup and crusting of the calcium which is being neutralized still to this day. We did replace some of the water-closets workings but not all since the calcium made some parts 'hard' (flapper etc.). Some flappers had crust on them that eventually came off - somewhat encouraged by manually wiping these areas and stirring up the calcium deposits from the bottom of the tank to be flushed out. The actual bowl is cleaner also. Shower doors: After years of taking a shower without a softener and then using the Yarna unit we noticed that parts of the shower doors (glass and brass) were losing the calcium deposits (being washed off without any effort on my part). We then started using CLR (1.5" paint brush in a cottage cheese container) and then Kaboom to clean these doors even on cultured marble. I personally like CLR a bit better (used at 50% and Kaboom at 100%) but both work! Both have some 'slickness' to them but it's very minor when you're working in the shower/bath stalls. The shower doors, floor, brass etc all look 90% better but I'm still working on them. Crevices and screw heads take a bit more time. Water taste: Removes salty taste and makes water taste more 'normal'. This may be a personal preference. Cooking: Nothing changed except there's no calcium deposits that occur nor is there any residual 'salt' added. Health: Hard to determine but, with the Yarna unit, we're drinking water without the additives. I would easily rebuy! Actually thought about a 2nd one but I’m told it’s not needed. I don't know how long it will take to fully do our pipes. I don't know of any downsides unless you desire the salt and 'slicker' water.

There are a TON of reviews on this and by and large here is mine: - Simple to install, in fact it seems almost to easy but it just is - Has reduced the hard water spotting we used to have on the chrome fixtures (not eliminate them) - Water is NOT softer, which is what they tell you. It will smooth out the structure of the mineral so it will reduce the buildup and that is the goal with this device - I didn't want a salt brine to have to deal with nor the big bags of salt and the added expense of installation - Other users, at least 94% + like the system and of course there are those who have tried it and for some reason didn't work, but the percentage is simply too high to not give it a try. - Our home is central Canada, very hard water (and added nasty chemicals), so this was installed to help add life to our hot water system and reduce the mineral deposits on the fixtures, mission accomplished there. Cons: - Power cord could be longer, perhaps a 10' cord as it's super light and takes up little space in the package

This is my second electronic descaler. I had a different brand in my previous home and had good luck with it, so when I moved, and the house had no water softener I know I needed to get something as Indiana has very hard water. I did more research before I purchased a new descaler. I ultimately chase the Yarna Descaler because the reviews were good, and it uses a higher voltage which should be more effective. The Yarna so far has met my expectations. There a few things to remember about electronic descaling when compared to using a water softener. The electronic descaler does not remove anything from the water, it charges the particles which makes them not crystalize to a surface. This process only last for about 48 hours, so water that sits for longer than that period goes back to its normal properties. Water left standing on a counter or a faucet can develop buildup if left. I will say the buildup is far less than if you used no device at all to treat the water. I just feel it is important that expectations need to be realized in accordance to what an electronic descaler can and cannot do. To me the benefits exceed the negative properties when compared to a traditional water softener. Here are a few things to keep in mind with any electronic descaler: Pros: • Magnetic water softeners are less expensive than some of the other options on the market, including salt-based water softeners. • They tend to have a long life – in fact, the filtration bed of a quality magnetic system may last many years. • Because they don’t use salt, a magnetic water softener won’t add any sodium to your diet and the water is safe to drink and use to water your plants. Cons: • Magnetic water softeners don’t remove minerals from your water. Instead, they alter the chemical composition of the water to prevent scaling. • While they do prevent some scaling, magnetic water softeners won’t help prevent scaling in places where water sits for more than 48 hours, including your hot water heater. • These home water softeners are not as efficient as some of the other options available because water must pass within range of the magnetic coils embedded in the sides of the filter to be softened. So, it is important to place this unit on the water line before it goes to a water heater or any faucets. Overall, I recommend the Yarna descaler and it is a great alternative to a traditional salt-based softener. I’ve had mine installed for almost a year and no issues other than very minor lime build-up on faucets that do not get used often which is to be expected with any electronic descaler. I do not miss buying salt and lugging it into the hopper. I feel the Yarna descaler is a high quality and worthy replacement to a traditional system.
