This Fairtrade and organic certified bean is a classic Indonesian full of rounded earthy flavours with spicy, smoky notes in the finish. It is full flavoured and full bodied with great rich texture and a persistent finish. This particular bean has great ripe fruit deep winey acidity. The Asoiasi Kopi Gayo organic cooperative was founded in 2008 and began to export FTO coffee in 2010. They currently export their coffee through Ujang Jaya, based in the regency of Aceh Tengah. The cooperative is currently made up of 760 members from the surrounding villages, of Aceh Tengah and Bener Meriah. The villages are situated between 1,000 and 1,500 m above sea level, in the local rich volcanic soil. All the villages have delegate representatives who sit on the cooperatives board. Though it is the responsibility of the cooperatives to provide the green coffee, it falls to the exporters to secure the contracts of sale. In the last crop year, 2010-2011, 11 containers of green coffee were exported by the cooperative.
