Transmit distance
Just got this and only been running half a day, but it's managing to transmit through the freezer door, across a 60' workshop, through a steel wall, through 3-4 trees and 600' field, through a trailer wall and to the receiver. This is with a non-lithium medium charged battery at -17F. Pretty sure you don't need to be concerned with this not transmitting to your base station effectively.

I was worried about the signal making it through my freezer, but it works perfectly!
I have this in a deep freeze that is used to store processed meat including venison. I was worried about the signal strength passing through a metal freezer and across the house since freezers can act as a faraday cage. It has a strong signal and works perfectly. Note that I am using Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries since they work well in freezing temps.I can see the temp on my WS2000 display and can also see the temp as well as historical graphs with the Ambient Weather website/app. I am watching the data and have set it to send me a notification if it reaches a temperature slightly above the highest temperature it hits during routine cycling and defrost.I am sharing my weather data online and have also confirmed that Ambient Weather and Weather Underground do not share data from this sensor online. It does not even show this sensor at all from public view, but I can see it when logged into my AWN dashboard.I am very happy with this purchase! I feel it is well worth the investment since losing a freezer full of food would be many times the cost of this sensor.

Works Through Steel Freezer Door
I was skeptical that I would get enough signal through the metal doors on my refrigerator/freezer, but I was proven wrong. I installed this in our vacation home and have been able to monitor it without fail. I have noted that the frost-free function of the freezer turns on every couple of days and the monitor notes that the inside temperature reaches 33º every few days for a short period of time, just enough to melt any frost, I guess. Overall, I'm very happy with it and bought another for my home freezer for when I'm away at the vacation home.

Humidity issues
I have 4 units around my boat freezers and fridges. It works fine for 2 months, then it just stopped working. When i opened it, the battery was corroded. My only issue so far is that this product usually gets used in hight humidity areas and it doesn’t have any kind of sealing or protection against moisture intrusion. A rubber seal and an o-ring will be an excellent idea. I will try to clean it and put new batteries and hopefully it will work again.

Good for data collection, but sensors won't trigger an audible alert- here's the workaround
Pros:Easy to setup even with the weather station's retro 1990's VHS player-style interface.Works well in deep freezers with rechargeable Eneloop batteries.Provides data points over time which are useful for food preservation.Cons: The WS-2000 can't be programmed to trigger a console alert for this particular sensor, which is bananas considering this is the sensor that most consumers would find such a feature the most useful. The app can be setup to send a SILENT alert if the temperature falls outside a programmed range, but it won't send an AUDIBLE alert (like noise from the app or a text message) unless one pays for a subscription in the app. Not all of us take our phones out, log in, and check for silent alerts on a regular basis, and by then, food could be thawed or thawing. This just happened to me. The workaround is to set the app to send both a push notification and an email, and then configure the phone to make an audible alert if an email from ambient weather arrives, because their app will remain silent. The sensors are expensive for what they do, but they are reliable. I understand they have a monopoly so only their sensors can integrate with their systems so they can charge whatever they want, but it would be nice if they offered a cheaper version that didn't include a humidity sensor since I find that information irrelevant for a deep freezer. In summary, it's a good (and spendy) product that includes a humidity sensor at additional cost that most of us don't need for inside our freezers / refrigerators, and there is no way to trigger an audible warning without paying a monitoring fee or reading this review to learn the workaround.

Works perfectly
This is a nice Refrigerator Freezer Sensor and works as expected. I purchased (2) of the, one for my refrigerator freezer in the house, and one for my chest freezer in the garage. Both setup and were detected right away as soon as I added the batteries. I was pleasantly surprised that they were detected inside the freezer, especially the chest freezer in the garage. Nice sensor at a reasonable price.

Works great *Updated 9/9/24
*** Update 9/9/24. We have had a couple of incidents where we thought the freezer was closed. It LOOKED closed. But it wasn’t completely. Today I got an alert the freezer temperature was at a certain point I set the alert up for. I had just been in it getting something for dinner. Went back down, sure enough it LOOKED closed, but it wasn’t. So happy I got these! So far at the time of this review, I’m impressed. It’s been working for about 9-10 days and I like what I see. My console is currently on the 3rd floor, and the sensor is in a standup freezer located on the first floor and no connection problems whatever. I bought it because recently we had a problem with a power surge that took out our Verizon box, and our freezer was on the same outlet. We had no idea the freezer was down (although we saw pretty quickly the internet was down! LOL). Luckily we caught it and ran an extension cord to the freezer since the outlet was blown from the surge. Based on the readings, I can even tell when someone opens the freezer to get something out! I’m buying two more sensors for my refrigerator and freezer in the kitchen!

Works great. Not sure if temperature is right, but it is consistent.
Great. Dropped several times, and still works. Signal transmits through the fridge, and wall, so I’m happy with it.
