Nice Crosman Pellet Gun
First of all I am a full size real gun guy. I bought this gun when i realized how similar it is to shooting are real full size rifle. I dusted off my old 760 pumpmaster to give it a whirl. And I liked what i saw so i bought the Raven because it has actual rifling in the barrel and has medium power at 650fps. The 1000 fps thru 1300 can be dangerous when shooting in the city. They have the potential to go thru multi-plywood backstops. So, 650 fps is fine. Olympics shooters use similar power for competition. Shooting this gun will save you range fees And 1 dollar per bullet I usually pay for ammo. The trigger pull on the Raven is very heavy. I think it is this way because when kids use it they will not accidental pull the trigger. But since there is essentially no recoil at all. You can still control your shots. The fiber optic sights it comes with are great and lots of fun. I hit a bird on my first shot to my surprise at about 40 yards. I Dropped a full size Centerpoint scope on it 4 x 16 x 40. You should make sure if you do put a scope on a gun like this that it is rated as a pellet gun scope. Because if you put your high dollar rifle scope on it. I could be damaged. The Centerpoints are rated to stand up the the double recoil from these guns as it springs forward and back. Well that is what Centerpoint told me. I personally don't feel any recoil at all. I had to remove the rear sight though to get scope to fit. No problem at all it just snaps off with a little help from small screw driver. You can reinstall at later time when needed. And I will use them in the future because they are neat. Accuracy, very even with the daisy 6.7 to 7.2 grain pellets. I can expect better accuracy with match pellets. Either way i measure each and keep matching weights together when shooting. I found the stock a bit short so i added a 1" butt pad from one of my other guns that made it just the right length. Also the pistol grip is a bit small surely intended for kids. But still works for me. The other main reason i bought gun to simulate the pistol grip setup from my real guns. Oh, and Amazon is the best very fast shipping and C.s.

Nice little rifle
Light and compact. Easier to cock than my 1000 fps Ruger Blackhawk. Have run about 150 rounds through it. A slight adjustment of the factory sights and I am holding 3/4" groups at 20 yards. The fiber optic sights are good with high visibility. The trigger pull is long and rough, it takes some getting used to.This is a powerful air gun. It shot clean through a 3/4' thick pressure treated fence picket at 20 yds. Lead pellets may also shatter if you shoot metal spinner type targets at less than 20 yds. This makes it difficult to clean up, assuming you don't want to leave lead shrapnel on the ground. I bought this rifle as I wanted something less powerful than my Ruger for shooting metal targets at my home range to avoid this problem but it still happens. I am going to try some 10gr pellets to see if they will stay in one piece. The hand grip is a little tight for adult hands but still very usable. The gun is quite loud although it should get quieter with use.I would highly recommend this air rifle. Hard to beat the price. I have owned air rifles and pistols for many years and this would make a great starter rifle or plinker, just make sure of your backstop. This rifle is also be powerful enough for pest and small game control at medium distances.

Send it back!
If you're disappointed when you get this rifle, send it back. Crosman dropped the ball with this one, or at least the unit I received. My 12 year old loves to shoot and shoots well, so I wanted to get him something that would be accurate and easy to use. When the rifle arrived I tried it out by myself before we wrapped it for Christmas. Thank goodness I did. As others have described here, it was practically impossible to break the barrel. Giving it a whack and then cocking it worked, but it wasn't smooth or easy, and was already making me question if it was right for my son. Firing it sealed the deal-- the spring released with a rough, almost violent pop. It was louder and had more "twang" than adult springers I've used before. I felt myself anticipating the noise and sloppy kick on the third shot. My kid would hate this rifle. Amazon was great about the return and refunded my money. I'm seriously considering the IZH 60 Air Rifle instead. It costs a bit more, but if the reviews it gets are accurate it will be worth the extra money.

OK small air rifle
While very nice and light to shoot, and fairly accurate, its kind of weak compared to my other air rifles I've had. Would be great for younger users though except its hard to cock at first, and may be to big of a task for youngsters.

Both Rifles Arrived inoperative
I odered this rifle for my 13 year old grand daughter's birthday. Amazon's service is amazing; fast delivery. The package was in good shape, no visible damage. However when trying to load and shoot it. It would not cock. I weigh 200 pounds and I could not make it break open. The barrel looked like it was going to bend. Amazon allowed return and reshipped another Raven. It arrived in time for the birthday, but IT WOULD NOT COCK. Upon doing a little research, I find that the internals of this gun are easily damaged by rough shipping. Amazon allowed the return and I sent back for credit. This time I oredered a Ruger....we'll see how that goes. I would not recommend this rifle at all. We have other Crossmans and Daiseys and they are great. For some reason this one isn't. I must say that Amazon's system and service is amazing and I highly recommend buying from Amazon. thanks
