Don’t put a sleeping bag in this
Well I think I learned how NOT to use it so I will try again soon.I spent the night in the north Georgia mountains. Temperature dropped to low 40s. No tent just these bivvys and a tarp over head. Slept along a creek.I think my major mistake was putting my sleeping bag inside the bivvy. Bc around 2am I woke up with soooo much condensation lining the inside walls of the bivvy from head to toe. At 2am in the chilly woods that was not a fun discovery.FACTS: I did stay warm the whole night despite the condensation. It is tough and reusable. I did not die.

THIS COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE!
When I first tried to buy this on Amazon it was sold out! ( that speaks something about this product ) Bummer! I waited and saw it was going to be in stock again and put my order in. I read lots of other reviews first mind you.NOW FOR THE “COME TO JESUS” TALK.... It seems some folks have unrealistic expectations. Some have bought this for recreational purposes. Don’t do this, this is an emergency bivy/sleeping bag only!! It’s not made for comfort! It’s not soft and comply. It’s made to help you stay alive if things go bad and you find yourself outside in the cold. It will do what it’s designed to do and well. It’s not breathable so venting it will be nessesary as per the instructions. You may be a little damp but you’ll be alive!! That’s the point right? I bought it because it looks sturdier than other bags of the same purpose. I bought it because it will fit me, I’m 5’11” and 260 lbs. I bought it for my bug out bag. I’m a prepper and spend a lot of time out doors if at all possible and so I know what my requirements are, I understand what the limitations of this bag are. Yes I’d buy it again! I own similar products by other manufacturers but think I will buy a second one of these as a back up should I have to bug out for a longer time than expected. Buy this, understand what it’s for, stash it and hope you never have to use it!

I fit comfortably inside one
I live in Portland Oregon. Last year the city was crippled by ice storms, and a lot of people had to be rescued from their cars. I purchased these to keep in family vehicles and to hopefully never use. I ordered six. They came fast--two days after I placed the order. I only opened one. I am a big person--over six feet and over 300 pounds. I tried it out in a cold attached garage. I fit comfortably inside one. Standing up I was able to pull the top over my head like a hood. After a few minutes I could feel it warming up. When I got back out I immediately felt the cold from the garage again. I was able to fold it and roll it and get it back in the bag--tight squeeze, as there were some air bubbles trapped. I suspect that in a car, protected from wind, this would keep you warm and alive. Still going to keep extra fleeces and some blankets in the car, but I like that we can put these bags in the car and have them available in an emergency. Hopefully I will never use them in an emergency, but if I do I will update this review.

As Advertised - keeps you warm.
This was used a couple of weekends ago with a sleeping bag inside it. The Bivvy did well at providing the extra warmth needed. This product will trap water vapor, be warned. After using overnight, the sleep bag came out dripping wet and had to be hung up to dry. Good in a pinch, if you intend to use every night on the trail I would check out the breathable kind. I shall keep this one for emergence, my next purchase will be a breathable Bivvy.

Lesson learned
Went on a winter cabin camping trip (cub scout training) and since I was flying in, I didn't know if the staff would have bedding for me. The first night, all I had in a relatively "heated" cabin (wood stove) was this emergency sleeping bag. I slept very well and in the morning, realized I was quite warm, even though my upper body was mostly exposed. I snuggled down into my bag, thinking I would relax for another few minutes, but discovered I was soaked inside the bag. Like, so wet it stuck to me and I turned it inside out getting out of it. There were drips coming off the bag.So lesson learned: emergency bags will keep you warm, but don't breathe at all, so plan accordingly.Side note: I used it under me the rest of the nights and it blocked the cold from below, so it's definitely a great item to have even if you don't use it as a sleeping bag.

Worth the money and space in your backpack
It works exactly like I thought it would. I used it on a closed cell 2.25 foam mat, 20 degree sleeping bag inside the emergency bivy sack while wearing thermal undergarment wool socks and wool top. Had to make an emergency lean to shelter due to incoming storm. Temperatures were around low 20's but I was warm all night with only a little condensation on the inside the next morning.

Compact.Powerful.Portablle
I was so impressed with this item that I ordered a second one straight away for use in my travel bag .. as I have been stranded at airports on a number of occasions due to flight cancelations I though this would come in handy, I also keep a survival pack ready at home and plan to order 3 more so that every one in the family will have one in case of an emergency like a power outage.Order this item you will not ne diasppointed

Wonderful customer service!
Loved it, did the job well.I took this up with me on a fourth of July weekend backpacking trip, and I am super glad I did (the night time temp dropped below my comfort level). I had questions so I contacted the Survival Frog Team, and they have by far have the most excellent, fantastic customer service!! I definitely recommending this company to my friends and family! Their website is packed with survival gear plus free stuff! I am a happy customer :)

The review I never wanted to write
You buy emergency gear thinking you’ll never actually have to use it. Last night while hiking a backcountry trail alone, I missed a turn and wound up heading in the wrong direction. By the time I realized my mistake, the sun was about to set and there was no time to double back. I was stuck in a huge boulder field and having found a relatively flat rock with a large boulder behind to have some shelter, I cut some leafy tree branches to make a pad to sleep on and hunkered down in this bivvy for the night. It was by no means a comfortable sleeping arrangement, but the bivvy kept me warm enough that I didn’t spend the entire night shivering. It saved me from a completely miserable experience - bad enough as it was, it could’ve been much worse. It was also comforting to know that if it was to start raining, the bivvy would keep me dry.I learned the hard way that while tucking your head under is nice and warm, the condensation from your breath will make the interior of the bivvy dripping wet. Crying while inside the bivvy also did not help at all. For the rest of the night I kept it wrapped around my head like a hood, leaving a hole for my face, and was still warm enough. This may look like a glorified plastic bag, but it is very tough. I spent all night tossing and turning on my bed of sticks and rocks, and in the morning could only find the tiniest of punctures where I was most rough on it. The tiny punctures didn’t seem to make the bivvy any less effective in keeping me warm. There was no damage at all to the seams. Cheap mylar will tear easily and any holes will run like a cheap pair of stockings. I chose this Tact bivvy because I wanted something tougher, and it was even tougher than I expected. Also, whether you have the orange side out or the reflective side out, it works really well to flag rescuers. I had it attached to the outside of my pack, inside out to dry the condensation off, and SAR was able to spot me easily from the air. I also couldn’t find my Fox whistle and the little one clipped to the stuff sack was surprisingly good. All in all, this >$20 purchase is some of the best money I have ever spent in my life, and everyone should have one in their pack. It’s tiny and weighs nothing and made the single biggest difference during my awful night spent lost in the backcountry.

Put it around your sleeping bag ;)
I know this isn’t meant for this but i’ve been using this around my sleeping bag at night around august-septembre and it does an awesome job. It gets so hot i end up tanking it off in the morning.

Does the job
Basically it's a well-packaged survival bag.Not the thickest material, but that makes it nice and light and therefore less likely to get left at home.

Tears easy
Ripped first use. Condensation was ridiculous. You get what you pay for
