KYOKU Carving Knife Set, Daimyo Series 8" Carving Knife and Fork, Japanese Style 440C Stainless Steel Meat Cutting Knife for Winter Christmas Turkey

My mother is Japanese and born in Japan. My father was in the Air Force and I was born in Japan as well. I searched for a nice set of sushi knives for my mom and came across this set. It got good reviews so I pulled the trigger on it. I'm very glad and I found the set. It is even better looking in person and the photos depict. So much so that I decided to upload a video of what it looks like versus a photo. I love the open sided cutting block. I think storing I'm this way adds a nice touch to the kitchen counter. Set is packed in a very nice box which I was happy to see you since it is a gift my mother. I would caution you to be careful when unpacking it as these knives are very sharp. I cut the edge of my thumb barely touching the edge of the large knife. So not only are these knives really beautifu, they are also very good quality and sharp. After unpacking them to take a look at them, I couldn't wait to ship them out of state to my mother. My mother call me when she receive the knife set and tell me it was one of the nicest birthday present she's ever gotten. So mission accomplished and if you're looking for a good set of knives, then stop are you my review and what are these.

Awesome product highly recommend it

We've had these knives for 6 months. We use the paring knife practically every day, and usually the utility knife. The chef knife gest a lot of use too, the others less often. We aren't professionals or anything, but I can tell you these slide through veggies and meats - no pressure, no sawing. My wife has been pulling a paring knife towards her thumb for (cough cough) decades to dice potatoes and cut celery. She also sews without a thimble - I mean, the lady knows where her thumb is! She's had to change her style though because these are sharper than any knife she's used in her life and she kept slicing herself. The wood block is a wonderful display piece. More importantly, its design protects your edge. The slots are all larger than the blade, so you can insert/remove the knife without dragging the edge over the wood and dulling it. The slots are completely vertical which means, unlike most blocks that are at an angle, the weight of the stored knife rests completely on the handle, never on the edge of the blade. ***UPDATE 2022-10-25*** Just dropping by with an update to let you know after 2 YEARS these bad boys are still SHARP, STRONG, AND BEAUTIFUL. I can't think of anything negative to say. We use them for food prep - meats and veggies all the time. We would absolutely buy them again, except I can't imagine that we'll have to for a very long time.

I have used Kyoku knives in a commercial setting for two years now, and this set was the perfect upgrade to level up my work station. The chef’s knive, cleaver, and serrated knife are my most used, and they’re great. All of these knives are razor sharp and maintain their edge well, all while looking as beautiful as when they arrived in the box. Even the knives supplied by my employer can’t compete with Kyoku knives - they’re well worth the price and with proper care will last a long time.

Sharp product

I have had multiple sets of knives from the big box stores over the years. I have some where a single knife was significatly more than this set. These knives have stayed sharp for months already without any sharpening. My wife loves them and we just bought another set for her mother. Highly recommended. There is no need for a set of 8-10 knives as you will only use a few of them. This set has the essential knifes needed and takes up very little counter space.

These feel very sturdy and of good quality. We had some cheap Faberware knives that had lived their best life and so we wanted to get something nicer this time. These knives look really nice as well with the wooden handle and character on the side of each one. The base rotates 360 degrees and has a notch on the back that could be multipurpose to hold a small phone/tablet, recipe etc. The packaging was also very nice (black felt material on the inside for each knife, so this would be good to gift as well. Overall very happy with this purchase. Hopefully, the warranty is as advertised. Only time will tell.
