A decent review of topics, but lots of issues
So the subject review is alright, all things considered. I still made heavy use of independent materials (textbooks I've accumulated over the years, and the obligatory Google searches). Many of the example problems and practice tests have straight-up incorrect answers. This can come in the form of incorrect formulas/derivations, or transposed answers between the practice test and the answer key. For example, there's a question about development of the ectoderm. I chose the correct answer B (hair follicles are derived from ectoderm), but the answer key says the correct answer was C, with an explanation along the lines of "Hair follicles are one of the many cell types derived from ectoderm". You'll find a lot of these as you make your way through the text.On the bright side, having to second-guess every piece of information in this text did mean that I developed a deeper understanding of the material, but if you're looking to pick this up as your only studying resource, I'd look elsewhere.

Very thorough book, follows the same guidelines as AAMC MCAT topics list
A lot of reviews say this book sucks, but I think they're referring to the older version. I've been using this book for about 2 weeks now, and have learned a ton from it. There are great test-taking tips and what I was very happy with was the way the material in the book is arranged. If you go on the AAMC website and look for the MCAT content outline for each portion of the test, it's in the same order as the material in the Barron's book, so you don't have to jump around topics. They really did a great job with this edition and quite frankly for the price it's a steal. The practice questions are reasonable and some are pretty challenging. Highly recommended. Haven't looked at the practice exams yet.

Best MCAT review book of all time
I can't say enough about this book. I've used ExamKrackers, Princeton Review, Kaplan, and Gold Standard, and this is BY FAR the best. The material is concise and very well explained, and the questions are actually similar to real questions on the MCAT. Theories and laws are not just stated but are actually explained (clearly, and in one or two sentences), yielding a big-picture understanding, rather than just trying to memorize how things are applied to solve problems. This book helped me hammer out stuff I'd been confused about throughout my pre-med coursework.

BEWARE!!!
I am a student studying for his MCAT and I bought this book based on the reviews that was shown on Amazon. Please, don't buy this book!!! There are so many errors in this book that I have found. If you are just starting to study for the MCAT, do not use this book because even though the explanations are straight forward and easy to understand, they tend to mix up their information or give you the wrong calculations. I have consulted different textbooks from Kaplan, Princeton Review, and Examkrackers in order to figure out the errors that were made. Do not waste your money like I did.
