Definately worth the price!!!
I have to give this box set 5 stars just for the first 3 Blackfoot albums it contains & consider the other 2 as a bonus! Yes some may complain about the cardboard sleeves but I burn copies & keep the studio products as source material. I had "Strikes, "Tomcattin'", & " Marauder" on cassette tape & still have "Strikes" on vinyl so for the price it was worth it to me to have them on C.D.!!! Its been years since I listened to them in there entirety & it felt like meeting a good friend I hadn't seen in years!!! After listening to "Siogo" & " Vertical Smiles" again I thought maybe I would hear something to change my mind about how I felt about them all those years ago...but alas they still sounded like the band lost their identity. After reading about the effort to turn Blackfoot into a Pop friendly band I realized my ears were correct in there first analysis on those Albums or should I say C.D.'s? The attempt to make the band something they never were was a commercial disaster!!! I remember how thrilled I was to hear this ballsy southern Rock band called "Blackfoot" for the first time & how me & my friends were eagerly waiting to hear what their next album would sound like. I remember how after their third album we were all just blown away!!! After the loss of Lynyrd Skynyrd we all thought Blackfoot would be there to satisfy our Southern Rock needs. Then came "Siogo" & from the opening synthesizer on the first song we were looking at the album cover scratching our heads wondering what happened? Every great band grows & changes but generally for the better & not in such a glaringly different way! But that's just my opinion & you all know what's said about those. I saw in some other reviews mentions of sound quality issues, personally all the C.D.'s sounded great on my stereo system. And I have no problem giving this product 5 stars based on what you get for the price. Blackfoot's first three album's alone make this a great deal & to be honest its not like the 4th & 5th albums are utterly painful to listen to they were just a disappointment back in the day & a executive decision that I am sure all involved regret to this day!!! You can't castrate a Southern Rock Band & think you will end up with a Pop, M.T.V. pretty Boy Band ! That's not what people loved "Blackfoot" for to begin with!!! It was about the music!!!

Great collection of Blackfoot
If you're a fan of Blackfoot, this is a must. Highly underrated group that should have been rated higher.

The best of Blackfoot for 15 bucks? How can you go wrong?
The Original Album Series collection is both a fine way for a longtime fan to replace their old vinyl and cassettes and a way for a new or casual fan to own a good portion of an artist's music for a very reasonable price. Count me among the casual who until purchasing this collection, owned Strikes on cassette for 30 years, their latest CD, Southern Native, and knew a few other songs from Tomcattin' and Marauder. As with the other Original Album Series I own, this collection turned me into a fan. The content and packaging remain the same: Cardboard outer case that contains the 5 discs in thin cardboard slipcases. Some of these collections may have remastered versions or bonus tracks but this does not. But what is present delivers the goods. This is the band at their commercial and mostly critical peak. You can't go wrong with the first 3 discs as Strikes, Tomcattin' and Marauder respectively all kick tail and the latter two sometimes carry a higher price tag on their own than what you pay for this entire collection. Siogo saw the band going more commercial with the keyboards but most of the songs were still driving Southern rock even if they weren't quite as good. Having said that, Siogo plays like a classic compared to the last disc here, Vertical Smiles, which is nondescript pop music. Still, you get four good to great albums from the should have been bigger Blackfoot for 15 bucks at the time of this writing. As I've written about other Original Album Series collections: How can you go wrong?

Glad this is available !!!
I loved Original Album Series sets and I have a few of them From Mountain , Ted Nugent, Testament, Warren Zevon etc... and now Blackfoot. Blackfoot was a Southern Rock band and for whatever reason never reached the heights of other groups of the genre. You are getting there hey day discography albums . Two albums not represented here are the first album and there final recording w/ Medlocke & Blackfoot.I love mini-lp , cd's type collections and while other collectors want slighty different things regarding albums I just love the idea of getting five alubms for $19.99 an being able to play the album through something kids today no long understand.

Bada** Rock n Roll!
A great collection of the best late 70s early 80s Rock and Roll at it's finest! Blackfoot was so underrated and should have been much bigger than they were. Ricky Metloche hands down best singer, guitarist and songwriter. These guys were locked in. CDs sound great on one neat little package!

Great box set
An inside sleave to protect the disc would be a nice touch. All very good albums and are glad to have them in my collection.

3 excellent cd's, 2 okay.
In my search for real music, something that is, as someone once said not "non stick wallpaper music" I gave this box set a listen. Of the first 3 cd's I thought they were all good, I did feel that "marauder" was the best by a long way. Of the other 2, they were quite acceptable. The one major problem I have with "siogo" is the awful cover of the Nazareth classic "hearts grown cold" it's been turned into a rock song ,when to me it's always been a ballad. I wonder what the songwriter (Zal Cleminson) thinks. Overall though an excellent box set and real value for money.
