This is a better product than Delphi’s OE replacement that only lasted a year and it cost more than Standard Products , took care of the check engine light ,intermittent no start, fuel pump not working and engine power loss

This ignition replacement helped got a 98 Malibu which was otherwise in great condition working again!Original problem: The car would crank but not start. One tell-tale symptom when the car was having issues is that the dash didn't have the warning indicator lights and warning sound when starting.Please note that I also replaced the ignition key cylinder just in case GM's recalled problem hasn't been addressed.I did have a hard time getting the original switch out because of the small opening by the radio and didn't want to disassemble the entire dashboard. It's obviously the car's design that made it difficult to replace, not a problem with this replacement switch.

Ignition switch worked well, the only thing is I wish I got the key cylinder at the same time. I recommend replacing both as the security module is on the cylinder portion. Had to wait for cylinder to arrive to complete install, and dont get exact oem as these came with issues out of the factory, I used an after market cylinder as it had better reviews, have been using for 6 months now. You can see which one I bought in my profile. After i replaced both all problems went away.

Works good & half the price of oem

Pros: Fixed my starting issue that took me forever to diagnose! Yay! Looks and fits exactly like the OEM unit.Cons: The only problem I have with this switch is that it doesn't have the same distinct "click" in between the OFF, ACC, and ON positions. It just sort of crunches on through all three positions in a swift motion. I returned it for a replacement part and the second one is a little better although not much. Currently debating if I want to keep it or return it and pony up the big bucks for a genuine ACDelco unit.UPDATE 10/08/2018So it has not even been a year yet and I've had to replace this ignition switch already. What's even worse is during this time I have driven the car maybe less than 1,000 miles. The spring inside the unit is too weak, and resulted in the key not springing back from the "START" position back to the "ON" position. Also, I started noticing my cruise control, HVAC controls, and Driver Information Center working intermittently. After checking the schematics it became obvious that it was the ignition switch causing this problem. I have since replaced this switch with a genuine ACDelco D1432D ignition switch and all the problems immediately disappeared. When I first bought this switch I thought I was saving myself money but it turns out you really do get what you pay for. Standard Motor Products, if you are reading this, I want a refund.

I cant give anything but 5 stars. Product looked as good as OEM quality. Had a issue with my 02 grand am not starting, diagnosed it to being a bad switch. Took a gamble since this was half the price from the local autoshops but once i received it, the fit and finish was perfect. Dont hesitate on this if the price is too good, worked like a charm
