Onvis smart matter over thread plug: The Onvis Smart Matter over Thread Plug is a fantastic addition to any smart home, offering a seamless and reliable experience that truly lives up to its promises. As someone who has dabbled in various smart plugs over the years, I can confidently say this Onvis offering stands out from the crowd. Effortless Setup with Matter: The biggest selling point here is undoubtedly Matter compatibility. The setup process was unbelievably straightforward. Simply scan the QR code, and within seconds, the plug was recognized by my smart home hub (in my case, Apple HomeKit, but it works equally well with Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and SmartThings). No more juggling multiple apps or struggling with proprietary bridges – Matter truly simplifies everything. Thread for Rock-Solid Reliability: The integration of Thread technology is where this plug really shines in terms of performance. Unlike Wi-Fi plugs that can sometimes suffer from congestion or dropouts, Thread creates a robust, self-healing mesh network. My plug has been consistently responsive, with commands executing almost instantly. There's a noticeable improvement in speed and reliability compared to my older Wi-Fi based devices, especially when controlling it from further away. Compact and Thoughtful Design: Onvis has done a great job with the physical design. The plug is surprisingly compact, meaning it doesn't obstruct the second outlet on a standard UK double socket – a minor detail, but one that makes a big difference in practicality. The build quality feels solid and durable, suggesting it's built to last. Responsive and Feature-Rich: Beyond the core connectivity, the Onvis plug offers all the smart features you'd expect. I've been using it to control lamps, and the on/off functionality is always instant. Scheduling works flawlessly, and it integrates perfectly into my existing automations. While I haven't extensively used the power monitoring feature yet, it's a valuable addition for those looking to keep an eye on energy consumption. A Future-Proof Investment: With Matter and Thread being the future of smart home connectivity, investing in the Onvis plug feels like a truly future-proof decision. It's reassuring to know that this device will continue to be compatible and perform optimally as the smart home ecosystem evolves. Minor Quibbles (if any): Honestly, it's hard to find significant faults. If I were to nitpick, perhaps an integrated night light would be a nice touch, but that's a purely subjective desire and doesn't detract from the plug's core functionality Conclusion: The Onvis Smart Matter over Thread Plug is a genuinely impressive piece of smart home tech. It delivers on its promises of easy setup, reliable performance, and future-proof connectivity. If you're looking to expand your smart home with a plug that just works, and works brilliantly, I highly recommend the Onvis Matter over Thread Plug. It's a testament to how good smart home devices can be when they embrace open standards and robust technologies.

I initially really like this product. Good value for money, smart design, but for some reason I have found that after a couple of months they seem to lose connection and have to be deleted and re-added to the smart home. This has happened a few times and I'm not sure why. One is in the same room is the Smart hub and router, and the other is next door. Hence I would not buy these again.

Really silly design with the manual on/off button on the side of the plug, not the top, making inaccessible when used with double sockets or strip sockets. No power monitoring.

I think I have had 3 different smart plug brands over the years - all of which have had horrible connection problems and constantly needed re-booting (Wemo - are you hearing me?!?). When I saw that apple were going to support matter and thread - I thought I'd find some new plugs that support that too. Enter these Onivs plugs - dead easy to add to my apple homekit (unlike some other brands!). Worked right away, and have been rock solid. I even have 2 of them in a waterproof box outside and they are fine too - even when it's below freezing outside. I've no idea what the spec of the plugs says the min temp is, but I've had no issue. I must say that I was a bit wary at first because these were really quite affordable. I've made the mistake of getting cheap plugs in the past and they were a nightmare! I'm definitely going to be picking more up in the future, and will also look for other thread supported devices too - I'm now a big fan.

Got to help set up extra Christmas lights round the house. Were super easy to scan and set up. Have responded really quick and have had no connection issues. I was looking in the eve app to see if I could see them as part of the thread network but they were not visible. Looking on other forums have seen that as it is thread over matter you can’t see them in things like the eve app. So I presume they are working on thread! Was great not to have to faff about with WiFi like I e had to with the meross in the past.
